I need some new rain gear for hunting. What's the best rain gear that won't break the bank? Obviously keeping you dry is too priority but breathability is important also. Sweating your azz off isn't any better than being wet from rain.

I like the Cabela’s space rain stuff. Don’t go through briars with it though lol

That would be a problem. Most of the stuff I hunt is thick as hell

I work outside for a living, up and down the RR here at my work. I’ve tried all kinds of stuff, the nicer the rain gear the hotter it is.
The BEST rain gear for summertime or wintertime is frog toggs cheapest option. It’s ultra thin and almost feels waxed. You can roll a jacket up and stick it in a pocket, it’s that lightweight. Over a short sleeved shirt you won’t get too hot, and when it’s 30 deg it’ll keep the wind and rain off of you.
I’d sure other brads make the same type material, but you can get these from Academy. A full set it like 35.00. This is NOT made for the woods though, briars will ruin it.

Pretty sure this is it. I’d have to feel it to be sure but it’s this cheap.

And don’t get one that’s tight around the bottom, like a stretchy bottom. Every time you raise your arms you’ll have to pull it down.

True waterproof, summer-weight rain jackets won’t breathe. Pit zips are a must, but I haven’t seen them on rain gear that is inexpensive. I caught a Kuiu Ridgeline on a winter sale and use it all year for a rain shell…pit zips open all summer and layered over insulation in winter rains.
Frogg Toggs mentioned above is a good choice…lightweight and rain-fast in all but the worst heavy downpours for an extended time. It eventually wetted through on me after a long day sitting in it heavy rain that just wouldn’t check up.

I tried the Frog toggs, and got wet from head to toe wearing them.
Didn't seem like it was waterproof to me.
I was really disappointed.

Maybe I got a bad set??

God Bless,

They make several dif kinds of frog toggs. The heavier ones with the dimples (textured) will let you get wet but the thinner “waxed” kind do really good. Especially for the weight and $.
Imo
I just ordered a new yellow set for work yesterday.
Walmart had them for under 30.00
