Money pit. Leave it right where it is. Every year go out there in the spring and set fire to $2000. You will be money ahead. Thank me later.

If I could get my wife on board I would love to have the dirt you are talking out of that hole to fill mine up. I despise the pool. X2

Wife wants a pool. Hell no. Waste of time and money. If it’s your dream go for it. My take all it does is have unwanted neighbors and family members on the weekend. Got to bbq for them to plz the wife. Then you have to clean up all the mess that no one wants to help with. Then a big argument starts with the wife that you are not helping with dinner and not being friendly to the neighbors. Not a fan of most neighbors anyway. Chemicals are expensive. I’m lucky the TN river is in the backyard.

I'm actually looking forward to it. I used to manage pools for the YMCA, Ole Miss and the City of Oxford way back in the day. Olympic size pools so this small saltwater pool (heated) with the robot won't be a big deal. Been working hard, saving up for a complete backyard overhaul. Built in hot tub with the pool, hardscape, firepit, new deck, outdoor kitchen. Gonna be lots of relaxing and cooking.
5 years from now once the new wears off, well...I'll let y'all tell me "I told you so" if I hate it 🤣

5 years from now once the new wears off, well...I'll let y'all tell me "I told you so" if I hate it 🤣 We’ve had ours for 4 summers and used it more this past summer than any of the others. It’s a 20’x40’. Doesn’t cost me hardly anything. Mine is a cartridge filter rather than sand. I replace the filters every two years at a cost of $200.00 total. I get the salt level right at the beginning of each summer for about $100.00 max. Then an occasional bag of shock about every 4-6 weeks for a whopping $3.00. I enjoy fooling with it. During the warmer months I empty the robot cleaner and skimmers every day. Maybe every other. During the winter I do it about once a week or so. Good for you for doing the hot tub and fire pit. Those were on my list but I opted out at the last minute. I wasn’t really interested in the heater because we already are swimming well into September but mostly because of the time it takes to heat the pool up. Speaking of rain though, do you remember when I started mine? It took 8 months from start to finish because of record amounts of rain fall.

I can’t remember if either one of your oldest are married but you’re building a grandkid magnet. I think that my parent building a pool was the piece of the puzzle that made my wife want to move to the farm. 😁

Congrats on the pool. BTW, I'd lose a couple more of those trees before they get too far. THIS!! That was my biggest regret when building ours. Now is the time to get rid of them. If not, it’ll cost a whole lot of headache and a good bit of money.

If not, it’ll cost a whole lot of headache and a good bit of money. If he gets a quality robot that runs everyday, those leaves won’t be a problem. Just empty the robot out each day. It will keep up with the leaves for sure.

Congrats on the pool. BTW, I'd lose a couple more of those trees before they get too far. Part of the plan...have several I'm cutting this coming week
