I have 5 Dp traps the 1st 3 sets all traps with bait missing had coons in them or the bait was still there. The last few sets I have not caught anything in the Dp's but have caught coons in the live trap. The bait is getting stolen but the trap isn't going off. I tried to set 1 off with a stick and it was extremely hard to set off. They sit out in the weather when they are set but stay inside when not in use. I haven't tried the ping pong ball yet but they are getting set around feeders so I don't believe mice or stealing all the bait. I have been using corn, small marshmallows, big marshmallows, hard cat food. They do not look rusty and were purchased November 2023, wondering is the marshmallows sugar making them sticky so I cleaned them with hot water and still having the same issue. Any ideas what I could do to free the trigger up?

Does the trigger move freely without the spring being compressed ? I've had some that the trigger had some corrosion where it met the retaining pin. I doused it with fish oil and worked it back and forth until it moved freely. However, don't underestimate the mouse problem.

I haven't tried the trigger without being compressed but it makes since. I will try that this weekend hopefully and let you know. Thanks for the advice.

I use mini marshmallows and then wedge a big marshmallow in the top. Mice can't get them out and coons have no problem removing them.

Mini marshmallows work great, if you don't have mini, chop up the big ones.....

Finally was able to set some traps out this weekend. 2 sets and managed to trap 3 coons.
I lubed the traps with used pnut oil. It was all I had. All traps went off great. I will try the golf ball on the top of the trap when I am able to get some.
Thanks for the help.

Go on Facebook and look up Wildman's Hammer Time. It's a darn good bait for DP's.
