Hunting in Texas was different. West Texas doesn't have the thick growth I see here. So to catch a sounder in the open was not uncommon. Best fun a man can have with an AR15 is to come across bunch of hogs in a open field. I used to practice my sniping skills with my AR10 from the top of a cliff over looking a plowed field. Shoot the sow, then pick off the piglets when they would come back to Mama after a bit.

If you can get one that's been eating in someone's corn pile for a while it makes a big difference

they are fun to shoot with an arrow...lots of noise.

I make sausage several times a year with wild pigs, never had any bad tasting pork.

Same here. We have killed and eaten a pile of them, and they are tasty!

They are tasty (young ones, sows, and cut boars) but they really have zero redeeming qualities.

The ones from Mobile Delta get alot of shellfish and seem a tad sweeter (for lack of a better word). I also like soaking them in buttermilk.

I’ve cooked and eaten several thousand
We use to cook them for fundraisers and church socials for free just to keep from wasting them
It’s by far my favorite meat. If you compare true wild hog meat and not tame hogs running free to farm hogs something is amiss, it’s 1000 times better and don’t even look the same when cooked.

Don't leave them laying I'll gladly take them. I also know of several families that can use the meat. Even worse now that Bidennomics are like they are. There's always someone that will take the meat

I'm not opposed to eating one, I'm just not going to clean it. I guess I'll take the next one to Nichols and let them process it and see how that is. We had an old fella that fed the landowners' bird dogs and horses for them that would like one every year. His house was convenient to drop them off so we would give him one or two, but sadly, Mr. Ike passed away last week and the other man that helps out down there doesn't care for hogs, from what I understand. I'll ask him again and see if I can decipher his answer. Between my bad hearing, his country Black man speech and a speech impediment, I mostly just nod my head talking to him. What I'm not going to do is tromp through some thick stuff at night looking for a wounded hog. I had enough adventure as a police officer in Selma for 30 years. I'll be happy to be through with any more dangerous adventures in my life.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

They replace the ecological niche of the peccaries which were hunted to extinction, disturbing the soil and uprooting large quantities of plants is a vital function that the white tailed deer cannot fulfill. I think hunting should be restricted to allow their population levels to explode, they would also make a suitable prey item for the large predators that are missing from these parts like wolves and cougars.

Don't understand why the Doe Blasters haven't already been all over this. Crying about how you need 400lbs of deer meat to make it 9 months. Here you go. Try some pork.

No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

Great idea. Bring back the wolves and mountain lions.

Fun to shoot. Damn good eating. But still do not want them on my property. Destructive bastards that compete heavily with deer. Now, if someone needs them gone from their place. I'll be happy to come help.
