I just purchased a gen 2 Ruger American .243 and am impressed so far. I also have the gen 1 in 7.63x39 and it is a very accurate and handy rifle. The only issue I had was initially the accuracy with 95gr Hornady SST Superformance was probably 1.5 inches (The 100 grain Rem core-locks shot around 3") but by dremmeling out the forearm channel a little on one side and totally free-floating the barrel I got the groups to about .75 inch consistently. I put a Vortex Crossfire II 6-18x44 with the V-Brite reticle on it and love the small dot especially for precision shooting as well as late deer hunting. The trigger is OK (nothing to rave about) and racking the bolt is much smoother than the gen 1 model. The AI type magazine seems to feed much smoother. So far I am very pleased.

Put a spring kit in that trigger. It helps

I picked up one today and was surprised how light it was.

My CA 7mm-08 didn’t love the fusions in 140. Man, it’s loves the Barnes 120 though. I would give them a whirl.
