Zero ties, past or present to the program. I think I would've probably rather seen it be Lanning or Kiffin. Has only been in the big time for a couple years but seems to be an up and comer. Like his offensive philosophy, worried about his recruiting ability. He's a northerner recruiting in the south. Overall, I think he's a good coach.

Jimmy Sexton controlled everything and probably manipulated the situation and worked it, so that all his coaches at the larger big $$ schools all got contract extensions and raises to stay (more $$ for Jimmy). Out of the schools involved He's the agent for every single coach that has been mentioned. Lanning, Kiffin, Deboer, Norvell, Dabo, Sark, and Franklin.

May not be over yet either. Wash AD just offered through Sexton, to double Deboer's current 4.2 million contract if he would agree to say no to Bama and stay at Washington. Jimmy is getting paid no matter how it works out. If Deboer says he'll stay at Wash, look for another round with all coaches involved, with higher numbers. Jimmy is not going to let that Bama $$ go to another agent and he knows what Bama can pay for the right coach. It'll be one of his boys, only question is how much will it cost, and Jimmy is milking multiple cash cows with both fists, just as fast as he can pump.

With the new Washington offer to keep Deboer now on the table, Deboer to Bama is not a done deal by any means. Saying Wash's current offer is 10 year deal, $8.4 base (doubles his current salary) plus bonuses and incentives. Easier conference, significantly less pressure, doesnt have to move the family. Gonna be interesting.

I don't get why DeBoer would leave, he just played in the NCG and sounds like Washington is making him a good counteroffer, wouldn't have to move, wouldn't have to live up to Saban's shadow, etc.

Finebaum is reporting 9mil/year for Deboer but I highly doubt any of the numbers being thrown around right now are accurate. It will take a little while for exact dollar amounts to be leaked or released I think

I'm betting that is not what was offered in round 1. $12mil/yr make people sit up and think. It'll also bring people back to the table for a second bite at the apple. Be interesting to see how this all shakes out. Anyway you cut it Jimmy is jacking the Bama offer up and making all these other schools extend and up their current contract amounts too. This may go down as Jimmy's most profitable week in the business, ever, as he gets a cut off every contract change or extension. He's making bank from all sides on this one. I envy his position.
