As far as people saying "its a late rut this year" consider this. All you guys who know your herd and the exact week when you start seeing chasing just add one week. Last year Jan 1 fell on a Sunday and there were 5 weeks in January. (The 5th was not a full week as in 7 days but it started another work/school week). High school sports start dates were all a week ahead this year to accommodate for this. That is the reason I was aware when scheduling 2yrs ago. seems like it happens every 5-6 years like that.
With that being said everything on our calendar was a week early. Deer dont look at the calendar. I would be real interested to see if the things yall are normally seeing this week with buck or rut sign will be happening next week. Just my line of thinking because I noticed things to be a week or so late this year where I hunt. 90 degree weather and single digit weather is obviously a huge movement factor as to sightings. I hope the cold doesnt shut them down too bad for you south Bama boys next week. Let us know if this matches to what you are seeing.
