Was going to hunt the next couple days and so few ducks and specks around I'm going to bowhunt instead. Cant believe it is this bad. Hope you biys are finding a few farther south.

Yeah, I may try to go thursday, friday, and saturday. When it gets down to single digits it is nice to still have 3-4 acres of open water.

The survey from reelfoot NWR today showed a crap load of ducks on it.

Report was new ducks flying in today. Im going to head out mid morning and hunt a couple days. The specks landes in the field this evening where we set up the blind last time. Not sure if that is where I end up or trying to shoot ducks out of the uncut rice.

The USFWS Waterfowl group has a Facebook and that’s where it was. They do midwinter surveys all over the country and flew over reelfoot.

Everywhere in the SE has been a gar hole until this week. Hasn’t been any water and no winter storms in the MW to push the ducks down.

Problem is they’re just here and there, the masses still haven’t headed south. Guys are still not killing at the lease. Glad I saved my money this year. Some of those holes a lil holes and have been for 30 plus years. This next storm may head them in down hopefully.

Probably gonna blow right on thru. Spot on the open waters should be good. We used to hunt island on a hard freeze. Those birds sure did work easily and in close.

A few ducks flew this afternoon, but we were too far from the water. We were set up for geese on dry ground. Should have shot a couple Canada geese but we got greedy and tried to get them closer to try to limit out. Suckers made the turn and kept going. Specks came out too late and shooting time was over. I think some birds will get killed friday. Too bad I'm done for a few days.

Nice Can semo. I’ve only ever shot one. And believe it or not it was on a rice field in Arkansas. First and only ones we saw while hunting there.

That wasnt mine. Funny thing is Ive only seen a few shot and none were by me. We just dont get many where I am. I'd love to shoot one though.
