Been trying to have some timber work done on my property going on 3 yrs now . Seems Dang near impossible finding someone willing to cut small tracts.. Ive even offered to give the timber away .. Would like to clear cut 13 acres of 22yr old pine & thin 5 acres of 13yr old pine. The goal here is strictly to create some bedding / browse in the 2 areas. Question i have regarding only the 5 acres of younger pines. would hand cutting some of these younger pines draw beetles into the uncut timber if the cut timber is left on the ground? Thanks guys

Turkey , did you leave the cut timber on the ground?

The beetles feeding on the dead trees on the ground are different species than the ones that feed on live trees. Shouldnt be a problem.

If your in the northwest part I will give you a contact. Had a one man show with equipment and truck that works at the mill in demopolis very select cut around thirty acres for me. Took a while because he worked full time. The key was, he could slip loads in a couple times a week beige he worked there.

Standing (dying) trees is how beetles start , trees laying down are not.
