It’s been really weird for the rut to be in full force and not hearing hardly anyone shoot. I finally had a 3yr old in daylight this morning and normally have had multiple pics the last week. Not sure what’s going on still doe’s with fawns too.

Killed an 8 yesterday evening - had Art Powers come in w Dogs this morn - did awesome as usual. Just a small amount of blood in field so i backed out last nite - had gav it 30 min but decided to back out. There was also a buck layed up 20 yards behind field i watched for while as i stood at blood/shot site w my spot light! he eventually got up and i heard him run off very healthy like as i left so i felt awful. Was wrong deer - not my deer. I stayed out of way amd let his dog work this morning - dog took less than 5 minutes - deer 45 yards from field n opposite direction where jumped up deer ran from.
Glad to get him - but second time n my career i miss judge late. Thought he was widest i ever had shot. He was not - 3 1/2 year old 8 😀
Think i shot one of my future good ones 😀 but glad i on board. Should hav gone w my impression of body amd not horn 😀

Saw a good three year old 8 about 6:45 and that was it. On to cooking and football!! Good luck to yall getting after em this afternoon.

This spot has only been hunted once all season, in years past it normally holds some good deer

Huntin the pretty woods this evening. One doe came through straight down wind of me. Wind is all jacked up.

Down n a bottom - small field. My very best deer showed up here over the years. Deer come from all over so hard to win the wind battle. Killed good 8 here 5 years ago - none since - but i only hunt this spot 3-4 times/year

Busted up 8 just came cruising through.

Trying something new and hunting off a bluff. Watching a super wide bench. Already seen 4, but hes going to have to be a good one to be worth getting out of this spot
