I believe I read that green label was discontinued and replaced by their BIB 7 year (with a higher price point).

This is correct. The new offering is aged one more year and went from around $35 to $55. It isn’t $20 better. Buffalo Trace, IMO, is the top for budget friendly quality and it’s still about $35. Unfortunately it’s also been found and goes quickly when the allocations come in.

5. Woodford Reserve

Those are all good drinks and he will get more out of it than one bottle of expensive. Just my humble opinion.

Another vote for TX Blended Whiskey…like $40 and very good. Basil Hayden Dark Rye is another favorite. Uncle Nearest, Angel’s Envy, Eagle Rare….all great stuff

Me too... I drink too much bourbon to collect it. I would rather have a really good $25 bottle of bourbon than an overrated $65 of bourbon that I felt guilty for drinking.

IF you like him ALOT, get him a bottle of Eagle Double Rare. beers

Eagle rare is good, no doubt. Wodford Reserve barrel proof is good. So is Elijah Craig barrel proof but most of them are hot meaning alcohol content is high.

I will give you all a personal tip...

If you find a good expensive bourbon that you tasted and you really like, figure out what distillery it came from, then find all the other less expensive bottles that they make and sell at that distillery and taste them. You will be surprised.

This is how the minions discovered W.L. Weller. I used to go buy it over at the Rome liquor store for less than $15 a bottle. mad

Had a friend that had all Weller bottles. Sold them for $3K.
