Never weighed many does, but I’m sure average is less than a 100 pounds live weight

Correct......Dont count the young ones because you could easily skew the data by shooting a bunch of 1-2 year old does

When I had the club in northern Barbour we killed some pretty hefty does……I killed one that weighed 127 lbs that I recall and the average grown one was 110-115…..We had a lot of older does too.

If I break our ages down to only mature does 3 or older you’re looking at over 120 lbs.

The few I’ve weighed are between 110 and 120
For a nice sized doe. We’ve killed some pushing 130, but most are in the 110-120 range.

For 2023, 118lbs

I’d have to go look at the charts for past years. I can say it’ll be in the 110# range on average. My gut feeling anyway

Me either but it's because we don't have many here and I see more bucks, there are places that need doe control

We used to weigh them, but don't anymore but we are all skilled at judging the weights from our days on a management program. 100lbs is what we consider a big doe. A 100 pounder will be 3.5+. I killed one last year that we knew to be exceptionally large and it went at right at 125 at the processor. I should've pulled the jawbone but didn't. I guess I should note that we fought a petty bad case of overcrowding after the Soybean boom of the 70s and 80s went away. It took killing a lot of does to get it where it is now.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I find people who "eyeball" weight on does often overestimate. Our does typically weight 65-85 gutted. I've NEVER killed a doe that's been 100 gutted.

At the Geneva dog hunt this weekend one of the first does weighed in was a 4.5 year old doe that weighed 77 pounds live weight, everyone standing around couldn't believe it, but the biologist confirmed that's pretty ordinary.

We only kill a couple off our place every year and rarely weigh them. But my brother in law killed one last year that was 132lbs live weight.

Our weights in Conecuh Cty on the 6 have been taken on our lease this year, and 1 on our camp house property. We just started weighing our does:

124.78#
126.22#
102.84#
103.5#
91.6#
113.64#
105#

Average 109.64
