Heck with Montgomery, they need to investigate the processing center, or whatever there is in Birmingham. Our business and one other business in town that I know of, had over $150,000 worth of checks stolen, washed, and forged. About the only common thing between the two businesses, is the USPS.

The thefts are taking place at the distribution hub in Montgomery, it is the same for BHam and Mobile. What they are going to find out is that it is an organized crime ring that is nationwide. i.e. Expensive package gets picked up in California going to Montgomery. Folks in the Montgomery hub get notified that its coming and they intercept it, steal it, turn it into cash that goes to a central co-ordinator which has a way to protect and pay the thieves. I bet if it were an investigation done by an outside source they might find that the crime ring goes way up in the administration.

The FBI needs to be doing the investigation. Not the post office police. Yeah, the FBI is really a great organization. They would really get to the bottom of things but only if the perps were conservatives.

The FBI needs to be doing the investigation. Not the post office police. I know a former Postal Inspector. They take this chit seriously.

We used to send checks from SC to TX, can't do it anymore. A 60k check was stolen in ATL washed 3 different times and presented in radius of ATL. We don't even try anymore and pay everything we can by ACH using positive pay by SouthState. Seems to be the way to go with a little extra approval process work. If a check leaves a post office and doesn't make it past ATL, it leaves little doubt as to where it is getting stolen.

I've gotten to the point of paying for and asking shippers to air tag packages. Dont bother with insurance. If its air tagged and running late I call the PO and tell them where my package is and then ask why its off course. I did that last week and filed a report showing the PO complaint desk what happened. My $1000+ package was 3 days late and spent 3 days traveling around Montgomery, presumably being X-Rayed at different locations to figure out if it was worth stealing. If the air tag goes away, I can call the Sheriff's department with a legitimate theft case.

USPS, UPS and FEDEX have all turned to shucks. Can't rely on any of them. If a package actually makes it to a destination, the photos they take don't match the front porch of the home that should have had the package delivered. Some of it is malfeasance. Some of it is incompetence. I hope it eventually leads to a return of mom and pop stores across the country.
More likely someone with the resources will start installing delivery hubs for local pickup and eliminate the drivers delivering directly to the door.

From my experiences, most of the gov employees in and around Montgomery are democrats. Most of the conservative or republican government employees in the Montgomery area have to stay in the political closet or their daily jobs will get very difficult.

I bought something from a guy in Nevada and he shipped it USPS. I have a tracking number but I was disappointed that was how he shipped it. We will see if it arrives All of a sudden they have an investigation going on, so I bet things run very smoothly until the law enforcement team leaves. In fact, now may be a good time to place orders but it won't last long. Just about a year or 18 months ago the same PO got busted for stealing mail and now there is another investigation.
