How much corn 🌽 do you think is out in the woods now? I put out a good bit. Saw a neighbor coming in with a 3 ton tag along going to feed this afternoon. This has to help the deer in some way . I know the purests won’t put it out but there has to be loads of it out there. I plant grass for them as well. They eat it like usual.

It be's that way sometimes.

Hope everyone is spending the money to feed the aflatoxin tested corn or they can easily wipe out a pile of turkeys.

Aflatoxin as low as 200 parts per billion (ppb) can harm turkey poults by causing liver dysfunction and immunosuppression.

What does it register in corn fields?

83% of all statistics are made up.

Just like cattle, goats, sheep, etc. Deer don't get a lot of food value out of whole corn because they don't chew it up fine enough for max. value. That's why you will see undigested whole corn kernels in Cow Piles..... It would be better to put cracked corn in troughs and let them eat that.

I don't feed corn, but you would think you would find it in deer crap if that was the case.

There’s really no nutritional value in corn for deer. It’s like candy and they can’t resist it. We can’t use it on our property and even when we could we didn’t hunt over it or around it. Just ain’t my cup of tea. To each their own I guess.

It is, and for something not to have ANY nutritional value it’s one of the biggest feed based products in the USA for livestock. I’m not saying they are getting mud fat off of it, but it does have nutritional value and gives carbs for energy. Now with that said, I don’t feed corn to deer in deer season , or not enough to matter but I’ll sure feed it to my cows in the spring and shoot them pasture birds. 😁😁

How long does leftover corn remain in cornfields after it’s harvested?

Past two deer we’ve harvested had corn in their bellies and I don’t think anyone is running a feeder nearby but I have corn fields all around me.

It remains in the field until eaten or covered up or decomposed. I’ve got bushels laying in my fields from wind damage that makes it very hard for the combine to pick. Lots still on the ears.

Corn has a hard shell on it that is not easily broken down. Corn can last a month to a month half in cut fields before it breaks down and begins to spoil. Every other AG crop begins that process when it gets wet.

No doubt Waterfowl Hunters spend the most.....especially if they are part of a good club/lease in the better Waterfowl states.

I asked Al at Mosley feed store how much corn he was selling a week the year baiting became legal. I think the answer was over two trailer loads a week. That’s around 100k pounds. Just one store.
