I'm reading the post on deer processor costs, and it seems several drive their deer to a processor and pay to have one gutted. Why? Gutting one is the quickest path to getting cooled. Is it a short drag to the truck and a short drive to the processor? I process my own kill from start to finish and cringe having the guts in one more than an hour. The only time I have guts in mine for an hour is because I have a drag that would induce dirt and leaves during the drag over a long haul and that's during temps in the 40's. Anything higher get's gutted now.

Thereā€™s some people who take 3 showers a day. I donā€™t care why. Feel the same about people who do their own processing or not. Seriously who cares?

You going to question everyones post on here? I'm asking why folks leave guts in a deer so damn long. I think it affects the meat taste if too long and proper cooling doesn't happen. Maybe I'm wrong and could learn something.

No just stupid ones. How do you gather data to make a comment like ā€œwhy do people leave guts in for so long?ā€. I seriously donā€™t know anyone who leaves guts in. Just seems like something else for yall to argue over. Have at it.

I don't understand when I go to the processor and see deer that weren't gutted. I bet it's because they don't want it on their hands or they might not like messing with them. I get the guts out of mine as soon as I can because of the reasons the OP posted

If the actual stomach or intestines arenā€™t ruptured, I donā€™t worry about it too much. But either way, I like to get the guts and bladder out asap. Very rarely do I take a deer to the processor ā€œwholeā€. I like to quarter and let the meat ā€˜bleedā€™ for a few days. If thatā€™s not possible, Iā€™ll gut and get the bladder out at least. I donā€™t know many people that just load them up and take them to the processor. Thatā€™s the reason why so many folks do t care for deer meat.

I quarter up whole deer .I'm not gutting it then quartering it later.cut it up and drop guts in buckets like most folks do
It better be a huge deer way back if I start cutting on it in the woods
You can't taste s difference
