Forgive me as I am new to Aldeer.com

I have an old Browning A5 Light built in Belgium in late 50's or early 60's 26.5 in Vent Rib Barrel, full choke

I am looking for a replacement barrel for this gun in modified, improved or preferably with an Invector Choke System.

I was told by a local gunsmith that he recalled a Browning Expert Gunsmith or Vendor in AL that might be able to provide me some help.

Can you provide me some assistance in finding a source for a barrel?

Thanks

There was a guy in the classifieds with a couple A5 barrels for sale a week or so ago.
And welcome to Aldeer.

Yes….search the classifieds here. I also think I saw them on the ‘fire.

If you’ll PM me the serial #, I can tell you exactly when made. You can also have your current choke opened by a smith is a last resort.

I don't know of anyone in AL, but Corson's barrles may have what you are looking for.

Those guns should have prefix’s to those numbers….#G and #V…..#s are higher than the non-coded guns.

That ‘can’ be ordered that way in the custom shop. Otherwise, it’s likely a 26.5” cylinder bore. 2.5” being the bulk of the choke. Probably started as a 30, as opposed to a 28.

Hi All - Thanks for your input.

First of all I went back to ALMODUX and provided the complete serial numbers for the A5's including the alphanumeric prefix.

I measured the ID of muzzle on the Auto 5 2.75" Light 12 with a precision caliper and came up with 0.685 inches, which corresponds to a full choke from my internet search. I remeasured the barrel at 26 and 5/8 inches from the end of the barrel to the receiver.

Lastly, I went to the Corson's Barrel Website and they appear to have exactly what I am looking for (see table below) - I have not contacted them yet as I am a little short on cash due the holiday season. The info from ALMODUX should also help. I plan to use the new barrel for Pheasant Hunting next fall so I have some time.

Thanks again
