I think what everyone is missing is the fact that after the first two games of the season that Alabama is even being mentioned by anyone for the playoffs is a damn miracle. Yep I'm seeing the same thing Even if Bama beats Georgia It's going to take several losses in the top 5 for Bama to get in and it aint going to happen

Remember, the same Auburn team that went toe to toe with Bama, also went toe to toe with Georgia. (Georgia has had their own ohshit games this year as well.) I dont have a clue who wins Saturday, However, Georgia has the longest winning streak in CFB history, two repeat National Champions. If Bama were to win Saturday, there in no way they get left out. Strength of schedule will play into it, The Texas loss was at the beginning of the season
If at first you dont succeed, You may not want to try parachuting

If Texas and FSU win, It will all come down to whether the committee puts more value on that^^^ or head to head record. Will they put Bama or Texas in Georgiaās previous spot? If Bama fans were in Texas fanās shoes, they would be saying thereās no way Texas gets left out we beat Bama.

I donāt ever post over here, but I enjoy the āwhat ifā scenarios. My question would be: even if UGA loses to UA, can they be left out? I know it all depends, but I canāt see the #1 team getting beat by #8, and not making it. I know a lot would ride on what everyone else does.
It will be an interesting Saturday.

It will be an interesting Saturday. Sure they can. One thing that the committee looks at heavily is a conference championship. So if Georgia has one loss and no conference championship, they will (and should) pick the team with 1 loss and a conference championship over them. Looking at the teams that are in playā¦ I donāt see how a non conference champion makes it. If Washington, FSU, or Georgia loses this weekend they are out.

^^^^ In the event that Bama does beat GA, GA is out completely. GA's strength of schedule is incredibly low this year. Conference champ, head to head win, and tougher schedule all goes in Bama's favor. The problem comes with the fact that Bama is Currently ranked 8th and behind 3 other 1 loss teams. Currently, they feel that Texas, Oregon, and Ohio State are all better teams than Bama. Bama's best chance of getting in, is if they stomp GA, while FSU, TX and Washington all lose and even then its a straight up crap shoot because then, you'll have seven one loss teams to choose from to fill 3 spots. I dont think that the committee values the conference championships as much as they do who they feel will provide the biggest TV audience and advertising draws. In recent years, it seems that some of the playoff decisions are made with $$ being the #1 criteria, instead of getting the 4 best teams on the field. The fact that they still have Bama ranked behind TX, ORE, and OSU should tell you exactly how they view Bama this year. I just think Bama is going to have pray for those 3 to all lose and then pull a straight flush, in order to get in this year. Didnt they lock the SEC champs out completely one year, when everyone knew that the SEC champ could've easily beaten at least 3 of the other 4 playoff teams. I think that was in the BCS days but pretty sure it happened.
6 yrs ago, they took both AL and GA into the playoffs. So the precedence for leaving a major conference champ out, is already set. Who's to say they won't take both OSU and Mich or both Oregon and Washington this year. Some teams need to lose and lose bad, and Bama needs to demolish GA if they want to go this year.

Generally, the 4 team system has worked fairly well since its inception but this year really has potential for a shucks storm. Isn't this the last year for it?

Pretty sure the Big 10 and Pac 12 conference Champs both had two losses that year. Yeah I think you are right. If Bama beats Georgia, the only team that would have a leg up on them would be an undefeated conference champion or Texas if they win their conference. You are right Abolt300 they do have them currently ranked behind Texas, Oregon, and Ohio State, but Oregon is going to take care of itself. If they win, Washington would drop. Bama wins, GA would drop. Ohio state wouldnāt even be in the discussion with no conference championship and not beating a top 4 team. If Bama wins, all and FSU wins, then the committee has an issue. And I think they will pick Texas over Bama to take Georgiaās spot. Unless Bama just dominates Georgia, which we all know isnāt going to happen. Itās either going to be a slugfest or Georgia is going to dominate them. But if Bama wins and FSU stumbles, the committeeās problem solves itself.

BCS best system hands down to rank teams. Take as many as you want for playoff but let BCS rank them. Nobody wants to watch another 60 pt blowout in the NC game.

Lot of rumors of FSU QB out on concussion protocol. That would leave them with a 3rd string freshman; if true. Vegas has dropped line to FSU -1.5
