I've been toying with the idea of making a bow to hunt with. I've watched lot of videos on YouTube of longbows, recurves, etc and have a general idea of what I need, but does anyone know of any classes where you could go for in person instruction? I'd like to get decent at it and maybe eventually build one for my boys or help my boys build one of their own

Clay Hayes and Ryan Gill are two really good sources of information on YouTube. Don't really know of any classes around here but I believe both have done something like that before. There are another two guys from Georgia on YouTube that build a bow from a green hickory tree in 24 hours. I believe Beckum outdoors is the name of one of em. Check em out, lots of good info. Yeah , I watch a lot of Clay Hayes stuff. I'll have to check the others out. Thank you.

There’s a trad shoot in Tennessee at a farm called twin oaks that has a class during the shoot. It cost money but I believe they supply you with a piece of Osage and all the tools and instructions. I’ve never been to it but I believe that’s how it works. There’s a YouTube video or two about it though. I watched a hunting show where they did this in Oklahoma. Looked extremely interesting.

I saw that show also. Patience and a lot of work. They had good teachers though.
