I'm a public land hunter and I got to find a better way to get them back to the car. What do you guys think about those wheeled game carts?

I have a cart you can have. It's been sitting outside for 3 or 4 years so let me check and see if the thing still works.

Quarter it up and pack it out. Way easier than dragging or pulling a cart.

Just gut it , that's a third of the weight. Plus this time year the yellow jackets will make you drag faster that way . Lol

I have a cart and have also used a Deer sleigher with good success makes them slide pretty easily but for real remote the quarter and pack out is the way. Both are better than a cart especially if on a hill side

Not sure if the link below will work out not. This dude is using for drones to lift out a deer.

Game carts are useless on steep hills

I got one of those crawler carts. Great on flat land but as others mentioned, not good on hills. It’s just a wagon with oversized wheels.

THis is what I typically do, if I can't get a buddy to come help.

I keep in my truck a frame pack with knives and a clean tarp. Bring my climber and gun back to the truck, grab the kill pack and get to work.

I did exactly this on a buck I killed on public yesterday. 1.1 mile pack out. 3.5 year old buck that would have gone 135-145 on the hoof, was able to tote 4 quarters, back straps, neck and head out in one trip. Shot him, found him, gutted him, hiked equipment back to the truck, grabbed the pack, hiked back to buck, quartered and walked him out. The way a good pack distributes the weight on your shoulders and hips makes tough hikes not near as bad as a drag out. Deer carts are great if you have a good fire break or road to utilize but if there’s deadfall, steep inclines or rocky terrain it can be tough. I like the fact that I can get the deer broken down and on ice much quicker than by just dragging, if you are way off the beaten path.

I appreciate it. Sounds like a lot of quartering in the field. Good to know I ain't just a wimp or old.

I have a two wheel foldable cart that I was given. I’ve used it a few times. If I was buying one I’d get the new ones with four wheels. They can be squirrelly on hills and where I hunt there are a lot of hills. I’m most likely to quarter one up(if down hill very far) then pack that to the cart on flat ground.
I also have a frame pack and game bags but I haven’t had a reason to use it yet.

I use a regular hand truck and a few ratchet straps. Works great on flat to semi flat ground .

I ordered a 100 liter Rucksack. Should be here tomorrow. I'm going to see if the quartered doe in my fridge will fit in that. If so, we have a winner.
