Hello

I purchased a Bergara Wilderness Ridge this year and I am looking for scope options .
This is for deer hunting basically with max shots taken at 300 yards

I have went and looked at the below this past weekend

Swarovski Z3 4-12x50. , out of the 3 I looked at it seemed the brightest and clearest

Leupold VX5 3-15x56

Zeiss V4 3-12x56

I have 2 of the original Zeiss Conquest 3-12x56’s on other rifles and was stunned how brighter, clearer the new Swarovski Z3 is

Any thoughts ?

Thanks

Leupy VX5 is the easy choice.

Scopes are so subjective. That’s a great group of optics you narrowed it down to and you’ll be happy with any of the 3. I personally have a hard time keeping a good cheekweld with 56mm scopes. Of the 3 actual scopes you listed I own 2 of the Swaro 4-12x50’s. They are fantastic lightweight, set n’ forget scopes. The best part of the Leupold VX5’s is the Firedot system. Every scope manufacturer could take notes on their design. Also, I’m a big fan of the V4’s but my go to is the 4-16x44.

Congrats on the new rifle and soon to be new scope!

Get the Leupold VX5 Firedot but go with a 44mm objective.

Love all three. The Lupy's don't seem to track as true as the European brands do IMO. But, they have great clarity and more bells and whistles for the money.

some good recommendations here, IMO, for a rifle that won't see use past 300 yards. I'd go with something lower power and lighter weight. VX3 line in 2.5-8 or 3.5-10 really hit the value. performance, weight sweet spot for me

If your budget is the $1000 or so that this implies, I would personally rather have a Schmidt-Bender Klassik than any of the ones you listed.

There's a 2.5-10x56mm with an illuminated reticle on sale right now for $1099 - MASH

If you buy the Schmidt, make sure you know when legal shooting light ends. It is bright enough to hunt well past that.

I agree with this. As a set and forget scope the Z3 or VX5/VX6 scopes are excellent with great glass. And they work pretty well with dialing but they are not as robust as the V4 IMHO.

My V4 Zeiss is outstanding for tracking and dialing. Glass is not quite as good as the Swaro or Leupy scopes you listed, but it's plenty good and solid as a rock for adjustment.

This. Not a better scope value on the planet imo.
