Got a big kayak flounder tournament next weekend and figured I might as well get some practice. Took the kayak down and fished the grass lines for a couple hours and nailed a couple real good ones. 3lbs+ Picked up a few trout as well and a big ol jack that destroyed an x-rap I was trolling on my smallest rod with 14lb mono for trout. Took a good 15 minutes to get him in and the process he broke 3 of the hooks and was only held on by one that was almost straightened by the time I got a hold of him. My brother also got him a keeper flounder. Good enough for us take the top spots in our monthly ACFA tourney. The weather was freaking awesome. Still a little warm, but not too hot and there was a nice light breeze. Was in the 60's at the house in the morning. Water quality is incredible. Should be a good video once I finish with it.

My wife and son were wanting to go back down and fish the fort some more. I gave in. Were going back for indigenous people weekend. I sure would love to catch some of those flounders

They catch some around the fort Morgan fishing pier. Live bull minnows on a knocker rig should do the trick. If you don’t have a bite within 15 seconds of the bait sitting still, reel it towards you a few feet and repeat til you get a bite.

Do you use circle hooks on Knocker rigs? I'm headed down Saturday, would love to try this out.

Small circle hooks or a small kahle hook with like a 1/4 or 1/2oz egg sinker. Make sure you’re using a fluoro or mono leader if you have braid on.

Fish along the sides of the pier there, fan cast, walk down and fish along the rocks, etc. The good thing about flounder is if they’re hungry, they’ll eat as soon as you drag it over their head. If you haven’t had a bite in 15-20 seconds, feel a few feet in. Also, you need to let flounder eat for a second sometimes. Don’t set the hook the first nibble you feel.

You can also get any 1/4 or 3/8 oz jighead and a pack of these if you can't get bull minnows

Very cool

Those work great, but get a ton of croaker and pinfish tearing them up. Recently I've been fishing the Southern Salt Hoodwink and they've been loving it. Catches a lot of trout too.
