we only allow the use of natural turkey feathers on this forum. If ya want to discuss other stuff like vanes, etc, ya have to leave.....

Norway recommends Goat Tuff. It's works well, but it is a liquid and will be a little messy. Any super glue should work. What brand glue were you using and is it possible that it had gotten old? I use either AAE Fastset Gel or Loctite super glue gel on everything with great results.

The Norway Duravane bases are coated with a substance that is supposed to react with the cyanoacrylate type glues aiding adhesion. So I wouldn't recommend sanding or cleaning the bases. I used the 1.8" Duravane 3D vanes on my competition arrows and 3" Duravanes on my hunting arrows for years. I have on occasion had a problem with vanes coming off that was always traced back to old glue. I always buy small tubes and open a fresh tube when I fletch arrows. If you buy a larger tube, store it in the fridge after opening it.
One thing that I have found with the stiffer type vanes like the Blazer and Quickspin is you have to leave the clamp on about 30 seconds longer than a normal vane.

Thanks Shaw, I think my problem was a combination of old glue and possibly removing the clamp too soon, as the vanes seem stiffer than the duravanes. I got new glue and they are staying on better.
