So we’re scheduled to close on our forever home lot next week. We’re pumped! I do have a neighbor mulching their lot so they will be building soon I’m sure. Our home will sit off the road a bit but I want a buffer between us and the road and between us and neighbor. What trees would y’all suggest?

Can’t recommend a do, but I can’t recommend a don’t. Don’t plant Leyland Cypress. You’ll be spraying twice a year forever

Back when I was looking, the green giants were highly recommended by a lot of folks.

Plant you a nice thick row of Illy Agness bushes. Thank me later. ^^^^ this right here. Not just perimeter privacy but a wall of 2in thorns for home defense purposes.

Do not plant Leyland cypress. Look at emerald green Foosia or giant green arborvitae. If you go up to the Mexican growers in Blount County, you can get a discount for buying multiples. I believe the 2 foot tall ones were around the $15-$18 range.

If y’all are talking about eleagnus, that ranks about the same as bamboo as far as a maintenance headache. Very invasive

Do not plant Eleagnus. Common name is Chinese silverthorne. Highly invasive, and bird will eat the berries and you’ll have them taking over your woods.
If you do the things you need to do when you need to do them then someday you can do the things you want to do when you want to do them.

Alternate rows of uglyagnes, bamboo, and kudzu. You'll have it all covered
