First, Im a very proud Dad. My son has been invited to apply to Harvard Medical School and about 17 others including Georgetown, Dartmouth, and Brown. So, I'm going to give up my lease of 588 acres in Kentucky. Don't cry for me though, my kid is going to be a healer. I'd give up nearly everything for that with great joy.
This is a Deer Season lease only. I do not have turkey rights. Its a year to year lease but it could last for a long time.
I originally found out about the lease through a friend that has hunted on TV for years and knows big deer. We shared a lease in Illinois that had some 200" deer in the area. This tract is laid out better than the Iliinois tract.
This lease had a 184" deer taken last year. Kentucky lets you hunt with a rifle and the season starts early and goes into January. It's the best deer hunting state in the South without a doubt in my mind.
The lease is $25/acre and is mainly ag fields with hardwoods. 6 or 8 could have a great time hunting this tract and there are youth hunts and muzzleloader seasons too. It's a ton of fun and you will see a lot of deer and the chance to take some big bodied and big horned deer too.
The land is near a nice town and there is an Air B-n-B within 2 min. It's a great set-up.
There is a guide service that will set up stands and run cameras and feed corn also if that's your desire. I haven't used them but others have and been very pleased.
If a group wants to share the property with me, I'll keep the lease and manage the "club". I just can't justify going it alone now but I would pay my part. If your group wants it to yourself, I'm happy to step aside and lease it to you.
If you PM me, please post here that you've inquired. I'll pay Skinny for the priviledge and I appreciate the forum to do so. >Moss

First, congrats to your family and especially your son!! That’s amazing! Sounds like he’s going to be in a position to change many, many lives. Standing up to the crazy manure they are shoveling to med students now (especially in the schools mentioned) will be more challenging than the academics. Keep his roots and his faith strong. He’ll need to rely on them more than ever. Keep us posted on how all that develops!
Man, that lease sounds incredible. Wish I was able to do something like that.

Thanks Doc. The interrogatories he is doing for each school are mostly from the same song book.. Virginia Tech was a nice change of pace with their's he said. I have a great deal of faith in God and how He leads my son. I believe folks make the best and most change from the inside. I'm excited to see what He will do with him. I've answered all the PM's for the day I think there are a few serious folks probably dreaming about a big Kentucky buck tonight.
