Went out a couple of nights ago for some quiet time in the woods. Set up at the McDougal hunting camp off 33. Campsite was about 200 yds from the road. Starting at about 9pm one semi followed another every 20-30 minutes. Don't know where they were going but a lot of them went there. Loud, used jake brakes, ect. I finally got to sleep at 1:00AM, woke up again at 3AM, loaded up and left. Miserable night. Not going to do that again.

Oh man. What a disappointment. Hate that. Hopefully better luck next time out.

This went on all night. I did see trucks loaded with lumber. Appeared to be coal trucks too.

This happened to me several times. It is very annoying but happens when the majority of camps are on that main road. At least they weren’t honking their horn at you too. It was almost like they saw the campfire and we’re trying to wake us up or give a jump. Bushy lake is quieter but you gotta pay a couple bucks and probably more people. Bet you’d get better sleep over that way though.

Some log trucks run at night due to running illegal, maybe bald tires , no tags.. could be just running at night because less traffic at night.. not easy to stop with them maypops

Happened to me turkey hunting near Lake Martin. At first light the log trucks started rolling on the highway at about 90sec intervals.

No way I am camping in the summer. I can't imagine sleeping when it's 85 and humid with bugs and snakes

Wolf pen is much more removed from the traffic noise. Horse camp too.

Yep, Roadkill, that's the only way I camp these days. I have three campers and zero tents. Many moons ago I had three tents and zero campers. Some say that we turn soft as we age. I disagree. We become wise with age.

thanks - its just a little pop up. Lightweight, easy to pull, fast to set up. Simple and more than adequate for an old guy out by himself.

I’ll have one I hope before next summer. Exactly what I’d like to have
