Who on here does it? Working with a new setup and been shooting bare shafts primarily for just over a week now. Running 1.5-2” high consistently on the bare shafts at 40yds. Left and right is spot on. She starts creeping up at 30yds. I’ve always just tuned to 20yds but wanted to try and get her good to 40. Is it worth it or what y’all think?

I've never bare shafted over maybe 15 yards.

I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

I bareshaft tune with paper at about 7-8 steps. If I get bullet holes I fletch and go.

You’re 1.5” to 2” high at that distance due to the missing weight of the fletching. Probably losing 20 to 25 grains in total weight. Try adding tape to make up for the missing weight on the rear of the shaft.

I did it once and never will again. My arrows fly just as good regular paper tuning with vanes. My FP and BH still hit the same after tuning.

Thanks, I didn’t even consider that to be a cause.

Bareshaft tuning will show every flaw you got from form, bow set up and arrow spine..if your within 2in at 40 I'd call that good.
Like shaw said weight a fletched shaft and add weight with tape until you get the bareshaft to weigh the same.
If think you can get it or want it closer you may add a twist to the bottom cable to see if that gets them closer or maybe tiller tune.
Also assuming that your shooting fletched and bareshaft together and not just bareshaft missing a dot on a target

I like to keep a bare shaft in the quiver for the exact reasons pointed out by @Ar1220. Trying to group it with my field points at 20-40 yards keeps me honest on form and lets me know the bow is still tuned properly.

Your fletchings or vanes will add a lot of resistance going through the air compared to a bare shaft. Adding weight to the back that equal the weight of the vanes is a good idea but mostly for keeping the dynamic spine of your arrow honest while testing.
