North Carolina. Home of every Tobacco product known to man, I spent my high school years in the mountains along the Tennessee/North Carolina border. We coon hunted the Cherokee National Forest. Two of the three sickest times I've been happened coon hunting. Once, we found a tobacco barn that was full of drying tobacco. Since we all dipped Skoal or Copenhagen, we decided to cut off a slice and try it. Mistake. The other time was with Scotch Dental. Again, we were coon hunting and had stopped to get snacks for the night. I was going to try some on a dare. I got the top off of the can and inhaled. It went all up my nose and down my throat. I think when snuff was first made, it was inhaled or sniffed. I don't know how they did it.

I worked for Phillip Morris in Concord North Carolina one summer as a laborer building metal buildings for the "hog heads" (barrels of aging tobacco). One time they dropped a hog head and we had to clean it up. We all took some. I thought my head was going to explode after partaking.

I used to enjoy sweet snuff but I never cared for Scotch snuff. To bitter.

I never knew anything like this existed. (I do not dip, etc). I looked it up. Check this fellar’s review out. He’s wearing a cat on his shoulder. Be sure to watch at the 4:00 mark. https://youtu.be/yLJX83ZVvx0

Before my wife's Grandmother passed away she used to stay with us and watch our youngest son when he was a baby. Her price for babysitting was picking her up a can of that stuff at Winn Dixie when we went. Since that was 24 years ago I have no idea if they still carry it.
BTW, Granny used to snort a bit before she put her dip in. She rarely spit. She was never diagnosed with worms either. I bet she would have never had Covid if she had been around through that mess either.

Brutons is what my grandparents dipped. I couldn't dip it without inhaling it, not a good experience.

My grandmother, now deceased for 15 years, lived to be 84. She dipped this all her life. She would go out in the woods and break little sticks off a sweet gum tree and put them in ice water in the refrigerator. So she used these little sticks like a tooth brush while she was dipping. No joke, she never had a cavity and had all her original teeth when she died. But that stuff sure is nasty. My Grandmother did the exact same thing!
