My fig tree was full leafed out when this 26 degree night hit a couple days ago. Wilted bad. Any idea what its fate is? Its 17 years old and pretty large.

I've had frost burn mine before. It can kill off the green wood sometimes also. If so, prune off the dead wood back to green.
Even if the whole trees appears dead, it will likely come back as a bush.

I have had varying success with my two fig trees over the years, last year was a bumper crop. Mine have the same issue this year, they just began to leaf out and the frost nipped them. The cold may cause them to die all the way back -- but they always seem to send up new shoots from the root system. We probably won't get a good harvest this year but the trees won't be permanently killed; you will need to prune off the dead parts.

Man, I lost my fig tree!!! It was bloomed out beautifully and then we got that freeze. Then, I noticed little mess coming out the trunks! The borers got it!! Made me sick. That was a huge tree and produced like crazy. Cut it below the borers and can only hope it comes back from the roots.

Be kind to one another and tell the ones you love that you love them often. We never know what tomorrow will bring.

Mine has greened up also. I thought because the leaves looked so bad it was dead, but now looks great. Hoping for a good crop.

I just checked my fig tree. Even though it still has a lot of leaves that the tips are dead and deep brown [tips only ] it is now LOADED with small figs.
I really thought at one time after the hard Dec. freeze it would die, it is in great shape.

Fig trees are strong trees!

I noticed a big fig tree today that was just now putting out leaves. Another tree near it with none yet. The weather in the past 8 months or so has confused the heck out of some plants

That frost killed my fig tree
No life whatsoever showing at the base
