Have y’all ever had a I assume coyote or dog steal a raccoon out of a hand hold trap? Well I guess not completely stolen but ripped out of the trap and guts spilled everywhere? This is the first time I’ve tried trapping so I don’t know if this is a regular occurrence? I did get 2 coons and a possum the first night though.

It happens and I’ve seen it several times but I wouldn’t say it’s a common occurrence

Raven does that silly crap every time I catch a coon or possum around the house. One of these days she’s gonna tangle with the wrong one. She’s got the catch behind their head down to an art. In a matter of seconds they gone!!! I don’t know why she thinks she has to try to kill everything.

It's hard to kiss the lips at night that chews your a$$ all day long.

My buddy caught a bobcat in his trap and ripped its toe off the other night getting out. The next morning he saw it eating a coon he trapped and tried to shoot it with the 22. Two different occasions he missed finally got another 22 and snuck up and shot it. He would shoot at the cat it would run off and 5 minutes later be back eating the coon.

Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

My female black lab was the same way. Possums, coons, squirrels, rabbits, whatever, it didnt matter. Grab them by the neck right behind the head, vicious shaking for a couple seconds and it was over. Mine never saw any other animal in the yard, that she didnt feel it was her absolute duty to kill. It was an absolute obsession for her.

Found another this morning. Opossum this time. Can’t catch a yote or dog to save our lives. We had 4 yote traps and 9 hand holds set over the last 3 days and caught 3 coons 3 possums and no yotes

I'm thinking this issue is coming from a feral dog
Coyotes will go after something most of the time that dont fight back but will get in a good fight over a meal occasionally
Feral dogs are ferocious and will kill anything they can

I have seen it happen to a raccoon, done by buzzards.
