Let me know how you like it and your opinion...I've thought about joining for years especially now that the grandson is enjoying fishing more..

Big Al, Ive been there about 3 times before but that was maybe 10+ years ago. Personally, I cant afford to join there. The lakes were nice and well maintained/clean areas. My understanding is they've done some improvements since I was last there. Yes sir, I'll report back and let you know how it went.

And thanks Ben2 !!

We arrived down at Bar-D lakes a little after 8:30 yesterday morning. There was one guy in a kayak in one of the lakes. We chatted with him later and said he had caught one fish. We went to the upper lake named Gayle to put in first. Lots and lots of grass and weeds everywhere there seemed like a good scenario for fish . We threw all kinds of things at them....nothing , not even a bite there. Stayed at that lake until Noon, pulled out and went to Donovan, the main lake. We used the covered pavilion at Sturdivant to eat lunch then put in at Donovan. There was one boat there and about 1:30 they came out of the lake. We put in and went all around the lower end where the driveway road in with not even a bite so far. I did have a nice cottonmouth about 3 feet long come out and swim ahead of us as well as a beaver. I tried about all I knew to catch a fish. My partner caught his first one about 4:00pm that was a lb and a half on a tube at the bank side of the dam. . He caught two more before we pulled out at dark to come home. I still have not had a bite all freakin' day!! cry

Fished there a good bit some 10yrs or more ago, caught big bass out of Donovan the first couple years. Had several days with 5 fish 35-40lbs. Around the third year the bass fishing in that pond went downhill, it was becoming overpopulated quickly and the big fish were starving looked pitiful. As is the case with most ponds you couldn't talk with the manager he had all kinds of reasons why the fish looked like they did. Anyway it was a mass exodus of members after that I heard, but hey when it was good it was something to behold. Not sure what the fishing is like now haven't talked to anyone fishing it in several years. On a side note I caught some honest, weighed on scales 3lb bluegill over there on more than one occasion I think from the Sturdivant pond, not sure if that is the right name for that pond, but they were absolutely huge.
