Had several coons show up on cameras.

Set out a few traps and have caught 3 more.

Seafood dry cat food, sardines, or marshmallows.

With the sardines, I place a piece under the trigger, and then fold an oak leaf and put on top of sardines and under trigger and then set trap.

Cat food I set the trap and then put cat food in until above the trigger.

Marshmallows, I put one on the trigger and set, and then 1-2 on outside of trap.

I use vanilla extract on small pinched off paper towel and put that in trap first, under marshmallow.

I sometimes use fish oil on trap with the cat food.

I have all my triggers half way pulled, instead of being full in the notch.

Some people use shelled corn in traps instead of cat food.

God Bless,
David B.

Better than none!

I’ve got 5 more cons on cameras, but no time to set or run the traps this week.

Maybe the middle of next week.

David B.

I’ve got one that’s figured out how to fish all the dog food out without pulling the trigger. About to switch to marshmallows for him.

What do yall do with them after dispatching them?
I have been thinning them out on my property and they are adding up. lol
My son's are wanting to tan the hides. Any advice for doing that this time of year?

Marshmallows skewered on the trigger will work, or use a folded up oak leaf under the trigger, with food under the leaf.

Unfortunately the older man who I gave all the coons to in the past has died.
He would give them out to the older ones in his community.
As for tanning the hides, the fur may be getting shorter, but I'd think it's still doable.

I haven't tanned the hides since prices have been down so low.

David B.

Way to go!!!

I've got 11 now on cameras.

After Easter, the trapping begins again.
