If you dont have a BadAss stuck choke tube remover in your arsenal I'd advise getting one
Had a guy to bring a shotgun over last nite that had been severely neglected
The BadAss was the only thing that would touch it and it would only get it out to the end of the threads
The body of the tube was still stuck in the bbl
I was concerned the thread were toast
After lots of Kroil and a heat gun we got that thing out and the threads were fine
If you dont put antisieze or high temp grease on your choke tube before you install them this is what happens
I dont mean just on the threads
The choke tube needs lube from one end to the other

When I need expert advice I tend to talk to myself

I’m wondering if he shot some steel through it. That will stick one in a hurry if it isn’t meant for steel shot.

It was rusted so bad it was almost married to the bbl
He had just bought it from a guy at work and it had been neglected

I use a Brownells Stuck Choke Remaoval Tool to get those kind out.
My problem is holding the barrel without damaging it
Last one I did I ended up straintening the vent rib too.

Oh and the guns usually have some sort of dipped camo finish that prevents the use of heat mad

I do provide a disclaimer before any wok commences though ... lol

There are two types of gun enthusiasts ... Those who have been F#CKED by PTG and those who will be!

The only thing I do to my chokes is wipe them off with a silicone rag. However, I would never let my guns get in the shape that you described.

This one had that camo wrap on it and the heat gun didn’t hurt it but then I didn’t just leave it in one spot
It got hot enough that the Kroil was bubbling out the rust in between the choke and bbl

Oh I did the disclaimer before starting too 😁

I like to use anti-sieze. That way if I go missing in the wood they can follow the trail of little silvery smears to find me.

My method was to put the barrel in the freezer overnight, and heat some oil in a can the next day….not boiling hot or too hot for camo dip, but as hot as you can stand to touch….then just dip the frozen choked end in the oil. Expansion rates are usually different enough that you’ll hear the choke tube pop loose as the hot oil is drawn up in the threads. They generally screw out easily after that.

That is a great method I have never heard of and I have had some STUCK chokes before.
