I was 6 years old, tar paper tin roofed shack in the middle of a pasture in Nancy’s Creek. We had a 5 burner natural gas heater that we cooked on and kept us warm. Wouldn’t trade them days for nothin.

I was just married in February and my wife left for Atlanta with her friends for the weekend even though I told her not to go because of the weather. I worked all day and went home and got some clothes and went to my buddies house in homewood. We ate supper at the now closed Florida grill and came out to 2 inches of snow. Woke up a 2 during the thunder snow with no power. Built a fire in his rented house fireplace and left at dawn in his k5 blazer with buckshot tires and watched the old comedy club on green springs burn up and spent the rest of the day helping folks as best we could. Probably never see anything like that night again but wish I could

I don’t think I slept for 3-4 days. We burned up every dirt road and powerline in the area in my ‘88 Cherokee. You’d be amazed how well a Co-Op Grip Spur will pull in the snow with a lightweight vehicle and a heavy right foot. Boone’s Farm and Busch Light, yum.

I was pissed off in Mobile. Graduated from Montevallo in December and don't think we ever had measurable snow. Was getting calls from my now wife with reports and how the cafeteria was out of trays from everyone taking them and sledding. Tried to get up there but was not happening.

Was in Bham with a bunch of college buddies. I had a jacked up 1988 two door 4Runner. Never forget we pulled a State Trooper out of a ditch 3 sheets in the wind. Lol. Snow was over the guard rails on I65 and you couldn’t tell where the exits were.

Spent about 30 hours using my pickup as a police car
City didn’t own the first 4x4 so those of us who did teamed up with a medic and ran calls

Worked a long day at Chandeleur Homes in Boaz then on to a side job and then home. I drank several Bud lights and went to bed early, expecting to wake up Saturday morning to a few inches of snow on the ground. Power went out sometime during the night and I woke up about sunrise to a winter wonderland.

Me and the kids put on our best warm clothes (this includes sock mittens) and we had some fun in the snow for a while. I used a yardstick to take several measurements in a grid pattern and we averaged 23" in my yard. Wife fixed a big breakfast on the GAS stove and we listened to the radio while we ate. After I checked on neighbors and family We settled in to listen to the radio again.

WQSB wasn't really playing music. Instead it was mostly news about the storm, closings, power outages and such. After a while it became mostly public service kind of announcements. Someone would call in and tell that they had extra propane, blankets, kerosene, an extra heater and so on if someone needed it. Someone else would call and say they needed kerosene or whatever. My family was sitting good with food, heat, etc. so I offered to help. I had a paint can camo 74 Dodge truck with a lift sitting on new R Buckshots so a guy in a K5 Blazer and I were the only two vehicles on the road in the area for the first couple of days. He was doing the same thing I was, going around hauling people around, and stuff to those in need. I'll bet that first week I taxied 20 or more people and picked up and delivered stuff to 40 or 50 homes. Everybody seemed to appreciate it and neighbors acted like neighbors should for a while. A few people provided cans of gasoline so I could continue the deliveries. Several offered to pay if they could but I wouldn't take any cash. I did accept gasoline though if offered when I needed it. As the week wore on more vehicles were able to be on the road so my truck was needed less.

I believe I was more blessed by being able to help than those that received help.

I was 12 years old. My family and a heard of cousins all held up at my grandmothers house that had a big fire place. It was awesome. Definitely a few days I'll never forget. Kind of crazy to think that we only really had 24-36 hour notice.

I'm one year older than you.our power was out for two weeks.they said on radio only 3000 people left without power and ours still wasn't on.
We heard local grocery store had a generator so I started out walking to grocery store and I made it maybe one mile and was soaking wet and worn out but after getting there 2 miles later I picked up a few things.lived out of a cooler filled with snow awhile.🤣
Dad had a 1979 Scottsdale with buckshot mudders and glass packs.it was maybe a week and a half before all four wheels wouldn't spin and let him out the steep driveway.
Fun times
My dogs had to jump through the snow. fun times back then
Dad was self employed contractor so wasn't sweating going work like I would have been now
Sure miss 1993

I was in Auburn and went to bed. My roommate woke me up about 2:00 in the morning because I had been adamant that it would not snow. At that point there was about 2 1/2" on the ground.
