I’ve been on meat, greens, and fat for 390 days. Cured type 2 diabetes. A1C was 5.7 last check.

I've been following and reading Jordan Peterson for a few years. Most of what he says I find a lot of truth in, this is probably the most dubious claim that I treat a little skeptically. I know his daughter has bad R/A and she believes her "lioness diet" has cured her. I find her a little unstable to be honest, but I know he is very close to her and a great father. He is inclined to give her a lot more credit than a stranger like me does. As far as his condition he believes he had some type of "allergic reaction" triggered by a meal he had a few years ago. I think there was shellfish or something invovled. His wife got cancer at the same time and he has known her since he was 8 years old. It was really rough on him to deal with her cancer and some type of strange physical illness developing in himself. He was put on benzos, (Xanax Klonopine) which absolutely do the trick in the short term for anxiety and will alleviate psychosomatic sympthons, but are extremely addictive and will cause you to physically and mentally like you are dying in weeks. In my opinon they should only be used in the first day or two someone has experienced severe psychological trauma, no more than a week. The juice is just not worth the squeeze any longer than that.
The end result of that treament was he developed a severe benzo addiction that disabled him. He admits it was a blind spot to him and he had no idea how dangerous benzos were and trusted his doctor. As a clinical psychologist he had dealt with a lot of addicts, but also as a clinician he only dealt with people when they were at or close to rock bottom. I believe he was blindsided as he has spent his entire life as an academic and family man. His wild times were very limited and seem to only involve drinking a bit too much beer and a shot or two of Canadian whiskey in W. Canada as a teenager.
Presumably, under his daughter's influence he adopted the diet while he simaulteanously was detoxing and recovering. His wife also sucessfully made it through cancer treatment and recovered. It's probably a chicken or egg thing, in my opinion. He went on the diet at the same time things started to greatly improve in his life. It didn't hurt his daughters ambitions either as she kind of took over his affairs and started podcasting herself promoting her diet. That is the long and short of it.
Personally, I think cutting out processed sugars is probably more crucial than we acknowledge as a culture. I don't think there is anything wrong with high protein, low carb diets. I think he takes it to the extreme a bit. I think he just eats beef with a bit of salt, no greens or anything else. I find that a little hard to believe it can be sustained over a lifetime. Regardless, cutting out carbs and sugar is much easier said than done, like most things that are probably good for us.

CAL I’ve stopped eating most sweets. No soft drinks at all. I’m picky on what sugars and how much of it I consume. I felt a lot better after doing that. Refined sugar and processed food is the main enemy of the human body If you want a sugar that is actually good for you then try D-Ribose
When I need expert advice I tend to talk to myself The older I get the better I used to be

Archaeologists have long known how refined sugar, especially corn sugar, shorten human life spans. You can the difference in the skeletons between pre-corn or pre-refined sugar skeletons and post refined sugar skeletons. Its a very obvious difference.

Id like to hear more about this. 👆 I've been doing the Peterson diet since December 2022. So far so good. no issues to report. I wasn't really overweight, did it as part of an anti-inflammation lifestyle. I'm 40 y/o currently about 155lbs and 5'11 , was about 175 before, but quitting alcohol and eating this way has me feeling and looking fit as I've ever been. I have got to get back to working out though.

Its pretty simple when you see it. A skeleton buried 100 years before the arrival of refined sugar or corn shows very little evidence of tooth decay, and the bones are much more dense, heavy, and show very few signs of fracture injuries. 100 years after arrival of sugar you see a lot of tooth decay, people who likely died of dental abscess, very porous bones that are not dense, and the occurrence of fracture injuries is markedly higher. Also, the average age of death is lower by about 10 years.

I will have to dig through the academic annals to find them, but they are out there. It's good that we agree with the FDA about what's healthy.
The FDA for more than a year has been attempting to have producers put labels on packaging that point out certain amounts of added sugars, saturated fats, cholesterol and sodium. These labels would be, essentially, "stop sign warning labels" on the front of the packages that let consumers know the product has XXXXX-amount of sodium or XXXXX-amount of added sugars, among other things.
Of course, the mass producers such as Conagra and Big Sugar and SodiumLovers Biz all are fighting these labels. One thing they say is that consumers should read the ingredients. Big Soup is fighting it although it's clear if you look at a soup can's ingredients the amount of added sodium is insane. A lot of the "healthy" protein bars gobbled by runners and weekend warriors are loaded with sodium.
The FDA says it's time to more easily point out that a lot of the processed food is not healthy by any reasonable thought.

Best advice I’ve heard says to shop the perimeter of the grocery store only. Meat, produce and dairy. Everything you need is in that area. That's some awesome, common sense, wisdom right there. Love it. I gave up sugar for the most part over a year ago, and cut back on carbs by trying to only eat "good carb" foods such as sweet potatoes etc. No white bread, pasta, white potatoes etc. Didnt quit alcohol, but I cut way, way back and cut out the heavy beers altogether and went with a little bourbon or tequila only. I was the world's biggest skeptic about how much your diet actually affects the way you feel, but I'm here to tell you that it does. I have Best and first thing I noticed was that I wasn't hungry all the time, and that I stopped craving sweets and fatty foods. It was almost like after a month of eating right (and hitting the gym) eating right became easier and easier. Body fat went from 24% to 17%, but now it's getting almost impossible to get it any lower.
