Spray mine with scent killer every time I put them on to walk in to stand. They are never on my feet until I am outside. I will wear them driving my buggy but not in my truck.

Well, last day of season, I wore my Mucks. Walked through water to my blind. Deer I saw that morning crossed my path. They were super relaxed. I’m thinking of something like a Schnee’s pac boot for my next hunting boot.

On the distance I like to walk to my stands: “The first 100 yards is also the last 100 yards.”

One of our guys lîkes to hunt an area on our property. He has a feeder on a road in some 10yr old pines. He walks right by the feeder to get to the stand. He wears rubber boots to the stand and he claims he’s never had a deer spook from his ground scent.
It's hard to kiss the lips at night that chews your a$$ all day long.

Yes but put them on when I get out of Jeep. Cuts way down on ground scent which is a big deal. Probably the biggest reason sightings go down for a lot of people each sit is ground scent they pick up on at night.IMO

I don’t wear my deer hunting boots anywhere but in the woods. Keep them in a bag and put them on when I get to the woods. I’ve had deer cross my path many times it’s rare if they check up.

Before anyone else comments, I don’t think you can hide your scent no matter what you do if the wind is wrong. They are going to smell you no matter what. 100%!

It’s about the scent your leaving on the ground not while your hunting. When that buck comes thru at midnight and smells where you walked in and out kills daytime movement in that area.

Deer have been known in gps studies to come across a hunters path, back out, and take months before revisiting that area. It’s vitally important you take every precaution while walking through the woods or on how you approach/leave a stand.

It’s vitally important you take every precaution while walking through the woods or on how you approach/leave a stand. That's why the first time a stand is hunted has such a high success rate . After two days in a row , the rate drops quickly. Over hunting stands is a sure way not to kill a mature buck.

I have used rubber bottom boots for years and only wear them in the woods, never in town or even driving. That being said, even then I have occasionally had a deer scent my trail but not spook. This season had a nice buck cross my trail in the snow and he was cruising for does with his nose to the ground. Hit my tracks which were about an hour old and he did a quick snort and threw his head up but kept right on cruising. Have had other deer come right across my trail and never know. Like RS said, the scent you leave will be there a while and may spook deer even in the middle of the night and ruin a spot.
