Tried to slip in a quick hunt before church. Hoping that big 7 we saw yesterday would show. At 615 a small 6pt trotted by cruising across powerline. At 620 I saw another deer at the bottom of the hill crossing the powerline. It was still pretty dim light and I had a little trouble identifying him. I finally got him to stop just before he got into the woods and was pretty confident it was him. I squeezed off a shot. He mule kicked and ran up in the woods and I lost sight of him. He didn’t bolt like he was slammed hit, just kicked and ran off. I waited about 10 minutes to calm my nerves and went to find him.
Got to the area where he was standing and no blood, no hair. I looked for an hour and found nothing. I backed out and called CNC. We’re gonna try him after church. I’m pretty bummed but maybe we will find him. Or maybe a clean miss. Mule kick…. You hit him. I’ve never seen a deer mule kick that wasn’t hit. Good luck this afternoon with the dog. Marsh, our dog (Killer Attack Dog) won’t eat if we’re not home either. Crazy.
Jesus... I hope you know Him personally like I do.

Got my son in a shooting house trying to get him one. Hopefully they will pay more attention to the corn pile than all the grunting going on. Hopefully the rain is loud enough they can’t hear the grunt call. He hasn’t figured out that more is not always better but hey you never know.

Good luck bamaeyedoc and CNC! Pretty sure he just zipped one across the back of his legs or under his brisket and the sensation of it caused the reaction from the deer.....That happens sometimes.......Otis sniffed around where the buck was standing but never hit on anything. No blood, no hair......and it was very open hardwoods where we were looking.

I just had to be sure. I shot my gun today and it’s on. I think I shot under him. I really appreciate Harold coming out.
