I had been intrigued by the Kuiu for a long time and saw a member here that had some so I inquired about it. He spoke pretty highly of it and I spent the money and I absolutely love it. I can hunt in 30 degree weather in the pants, long sleeve shirt, and hoodie with some thin truspec under layers on and be toasty and totally wind proof.

They run really good sales pretty often. I think I spent about $300 bucks on the pants, long sleeve t shirt, and a hoodie. 👍🏼

Fit, finish and function. Like the older Filson stuff, most of it can and will be passed down due to the workmanship and materials used. It is gear, when you get into the upper tier items. Purpose driven and designed with intent..pocket locations, closures, enforcements in key areas that get the most abuse, etc.
What I have was bought on sale or discontinued, but fits well and still works just fine.

My wife showed me a meme that said Sitka was men’s Lululemon…HA!

I own a good bit of sitka and some kuiu. The first part of YellaLineHunter is why I own what I do. However, I have only bought one set from a spoting goods store. The rest I have bought on clearance/sale via camofire or rogers sporting goods. Both run sales often and it can be bought for a good bit less.

I have bought a couple of Sitka items from Rogers and I have been very pleased with them and their craftsmanship. I started taking blood thinners two years ago and I cannot stand the cold. Once it gets to 35' I stayed in until I bought the Sitka Fanatic bibs and coat. I can stay toasty warm wearing them and never feel the north wind blowing. I usually take them off going in and slip them on when I climb the tree. I bought the Sitka "Duck Oven"?? jacket on sale at Rogers also and it is another great item to keep me warm when it is above the 30' mark. To me, they are worth their weight in gold. The older you get, the more you will enjoy them-I guarantee you this.

I usually just wear old clothes and carhart overalls if its cold, the only thing I spent a lot of money on is rain gear from Kuiu

I have some kuiu stuff and I love it. I hike a lot and hunt some deep hollers a long ways from the truck so I need something light that I can wear in and not sweat to death. kuiu’s attack pants are about as good as they come. I don’t have the more costly stuff but thinking about selling my cabelas stuff to buy some. If I can lighten my load then I’m for it.

Mack prairie wings has/had a big sale on Sitka gear

Thisnis the reason I went with Chene waders. I have a blown disk L5 and these waders are the easiest yet in my back. Neoprenes we’re off the list and few other breathable we’re much better but the Chene wadders are next level game changing.

I didn’t go with Sitka because of too many choices and not understanding their systems completely

Performance clothing is worth the expense. No matter if you are hunting, fishing, hiking, running, walking, cycling and working. I don’t do cheap but I’m going to be smart about what I buy. I can’t stand bulky binding hot loud hunting gear.

This pretty much sums it up. Freedom of movement in cold temperatures due to less bulk and less weight. Add to that the quality of construction.

I always swore I wouldn’t spend the money on Sitka, but after being around some people who used it, I bit the bullet. If I mainly gun hunted, I probably would never have bothered. But I spend most of my season in a lockon, with a bow. Mainly a recurve nowadays. It is nearly impossible to accurately shoot a recurve when you are bundled up with enough Walmart camo to stay warm in 20 degrees with a stiff wind.

I’ve actually worn some of my buddies Sitka gear last year after getting soaked from a Polaris Ranger bed latch breaking. It is definitely lighter weight and warm. I didn’t run out and buy any after using it a couple of days though.

Funny you say that. The other weekend was horrible for killing ducks and after seeing all the Sitka wearing instagram hunters, I looked at my buddy and said, I guess no matter how much Sitka you wear you still aren’t guaranteed a strap of ducks.

Watch Scheels.com as well.
Traverse hoodie was 149 and with a sweatshirt and vest(final approach for 39 from Rogers sporting goods) it is perfect for Alabama winters.
I bought the fanatic bibs for an Iowa trip and at 52, hopefully they'll last the rest of my hunting life. I want to say I paid around 280. I have been in bulky used jackets bought from members here for the past 15 years and finally said to hell with it and spent some dollars.

You will not get cold in the bibs with only blue jeans. My buddy has the fanatic jacket as well and he was not cold in negative wind chill.

same with any high dollar fashion product. The people that buy the stuff will always tell you how it's worth every penny and yet when you buy it you will always be disapointed. I bought one Cabela coat, the reviews all said wind proof and will burn you out of the woods in 20 degree weather, yet I found it only sufficent to 50 degrees.

If you bow hunt in cold weather, it’s worth it.
If you go through camo due to washing a lot/hunting a lot, walking through thick chit, etc., it’s worth it. The stuff is worth it if you have the extra change and find it on sale. Is it a necessity? No. Put 4 or 5 layers on and go have fun. I’ll spend the same in the long run and wear 2 layers and be comfortable in 99% of the weather this part of the country wants to throw at me.

To be honest - I don’t have high quality clothing (it’s a choice, not necessarily a financial limitation). If it’s that cold or rainy - I just stay home. There’s not an animal walking, flying, or swimming that is worth me being uncomfortable. Perhaps I’m just too old or lazy, but to me hunting and fishing should be enjoyed, not tolerated.

I'll probably upgrade to under armour since my super skinny whinny bro in law swears he doesn't get cold anymore!lol but I'll have to wear out my old cotton browning, red head and Russel's pile of hunting clothes first.i don't mind bulk layers and cold doesn't bother me like some so who knows if I'll upgrade but is tempting if his skinny arse doesn't get cold.im slow to anything new

Kuiu attack pants are all I wear. No more jeans for me. I bought my first pair used off a hunting web site. Now I just wait and buy a pair when they go on sale. You wont regret getting them. The guy that originally came up with Sitka sold out and then came out with Kuiu. Kuiu is not sold in stores. You buy everything direct from Kuiu. Most of their stuff has a lifetime warranty.

Good read about the founder and story of Sitka/Kuiu; Jason Hairston. He was a football player and died of suicide in 2018; found to have CTE. I have a Kuiu vest and jacket that I wear more than any other I own.

If it’s not worth it to you don’t buy it. No need because you are wasting your money. There is value to someone somewhere otherwise the company would crash. Hi-tech fabrics are here to stay

I buy quality products if I can. It’s usually cheaper in the long run

My duck hunting clothes are Drake bought on sale for at least half off. Still have the stuff from 15-20 years ago.
