99% of the people killing over 5 deer per season are looking for anyone with a pulse to give their "extra" meat away to.
Nobody eats 10lbs of deer meat per week. That's stupid to even say you are doing that and if you are.... what else are you doing if you can't afford to go to the grocery store? There is the question you need to ask yourself.... Why am I having to live off deer meat?
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

There is the question you need to ask yourself.... Why am I having to live off deer meat? The days that I work from home, I typically eat deer meat all 3 meals. Deer sausage for breakfast, leftover meals for lunch, and a meat dish for dinner that is made from wild game. We don't have to eat it 5-6 days per week, we choose to do so. All three folks in my house prefer deer and other hoofed game to beef or other meat, and other than planning to share with my family, we aren't looking to give ours away. We plan our hunts to allow us to do this. It would cost me less to go to the store, but we do not perceive that to be as healthy or nearly as much fun. Our bloodwork seems to show that I am correct.

I have my own way of doing many things myself.... You can kill as many as you want I personally don't care but you are in the 1%. The other 99% is throwing old meat away.

I'd say for the average hunter, vension is probably running around $45-$50 a pound once you figure in what most people spend to deer hunt. I don't think people are shooting deer just to live off it. Grocery store is way less expensive to fill the freezer.

How many of yall that love deer meat, clean the whole deer, and not just the hams and Backstrom? Let's be honest now!! I process most of what we eat. Hams are made into roasts, cube steak, stew, and ground. Backstraps make steaks or stir fry, as do tenderloins. Shoulders and neck meat makes roasts, stew, and ground. Thigh bones and shanks get cooked down to make bone broth and soup base. I waste very little of the actual meat, but we don't eat anything out of the gut pile. My typical boneless meat yield is about 30-35% of live weight, and a typical deer makes about 4-6 quarts of bone broth/soup starter.

Good answer!! 2 big acreage clubs on DMAP program, shooting with wildlife consulting group, and helping a commercial operation meet their doe quota. Let's just say that I got a Christmas card from Hornady every year there for a period 4 or 5 yrs. LOL Most of that meat was donated to project venison, food pantries, church members in need, and elderly people that needed meat in the communities around the areas we shot. Commercial operation would have locals show up at dark thirty and we'd just toss deer off one truck, record weight, check for lactation, pull the jawbone, and toss it onto another truck headed out the gate and back to their house.

What's wrong with living off deer meat?
Nothing. I could live off squirrels and stray dogs.

Nothing. I could live off squirrels and stray dogs. Nothing. You just need to get a better job because you’re a lazy bum but there is nothing wrong with it. And if you and you’re family need more than 5 deer a year you’re a liar and a lazy bum who needs a better job

How many of yall that love deer meat, clean the whole deer, and not just the hams and Backstrom? Let's be honest now!! I take everything that is salvageable from each deer I kill and most of the hogs. I try to shoot around the shoulders so as not to bugger them up. I process into major muscle cuts and freeze whole. Separate all the trimmings and lesser quality parts to the sausage pile. I’ll give hogs away and some of my finished venison products to friends. But the lady and I can and will go through 3-4 decent sized deer in a year. Every meal is meat here.

Most people who think that's nonsense are fat and have health problems.

Over 100, and left them laying. I remember the tag days and predation permits . Lol I wonder just how where killed like that . The numbers would cause quite a bit of ruckus from the hunters who leased those properties for hunting.
