I had a 4.5-5 year old on camera. Was going to hunt him today. Was too late, a guy 300 yards down the cutover killed him an hour before I arrived. A day late and a big buck short. Apart of it on public land. The guys were from ST Clair county. Anyone know them or seen a big buck posted? I wanted to see a kill photo.

This scenario isn’t unique to public land at all.

Just be thankful you didn’t spend thousands on a lease and fields a feed him all summer for your neighbor that owns 1/2-acre to shoot him from the bedroom window over a corn pile👍🏼

I've looked at that buck a few times and dang it's nice. I just notice the gut pile in the background, with the way they are posed and all, I bet they forgot about the guts.

Past Ol’ man Finley’s plac...

There is a lot of work that goes into my bedroom window kills. All hunters need to stick together. I resent y’all talking down about the way I like to hunt.

I do it because
A I don’t like people

B. I hate a bunch of jealous ass folks that think if someone else killed a deer they cheated because I, the great white hunter, am the only person on the planet who deserves it

C the drama of a bunch of grown men acting like babies because “someone got MY spot/killed MY deer.

D WAY to many idiots on public land. Last time I hunted public land was 25 years ago. I’ll never forget it because it’s the day me and my then 7yo son we’re trying to hide from a barrage of incoming bullets from 2 assholes hunting from the road. I assure you both would have died that day had I been able to keep my son safe long enough to return fire before they realized how stupid they were and sped off.

I’m pretty rare I guess, I just like to see people hunt, be safe, kill deer and have fun without drama and jealousy. That’s why I do it. If my kids acted like 92% of the hunters I know, I wouldn’t let them hunt my place either.

Which part? Leasing?

I don’t like drama in clubs either. I have a couple buddies I’ve hunted with for the past 25 years. We’ve leased land together that long as well. We all load up and hunt public too. Hell we just like being in the woods but we are all on a similar (not quite same) page in regards to goals. It makes things a lot more enjoyable
