Lazzeroni Warbird, what a mess it was. I traded a stainless 77 Ruger and thought I had made the deal of the century until I figured out it wouldn't feed right (it was built on a 700 action, and they had issues) and it grouped 4 inches because I assume the barrel was shot out.
Then there was the ammo or the lack thereof. I unloaded it to a guy wanting the action for a build.

Oddballs I have now is a 460 Rowland on a Springfield frame and a 480 Ruger Super Redhawk.

Well I don't feel qualified to participate in this thread. When I started hunting in AL 40+ years ago I used whatever I could get my hands on, usually my father's Model 70 30.06. He eventually gave it to me as he rarely hunted. I used it for years until the bowhunting bug took over with me. Guns took a hard backseat for awhile. When my health dictated I go back to guns, I went back to the 30.06 and finally to a 25.06 and that has been my go to since. We have a hunter from out of state every year that comes to visit for a few days in January that has a Ruger #1 in 257 Roberts and I'd be lying if I said I didn't lust after that rifle.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

My favorite deer rifle is a 25 WSSM A-Bolt. Has the bolt on the correct side, too.

The number of people referencing WSSMs and Grendels means they're not obscure. 25/06 is real common some places.

8mm Remington Magnum and 348 Winchester may be the most obscure I've used.

I also switched between 257 Robert's and 250 Savage quite a bit. Those are probably my top 2 favorite calibers for deer and I don't own either anymore.
