I’m 99% positive it’s his. I gave sis this call years ago when she was collected waterfowl gear from yesteryears. Lots of desirable decoys if they can be found in her 4,000 sq ft storage warehouse. It’s packed. I’m hoping they can find a Taylor duck call I’m pretty sure I have her too.

About to add it to my lanyard

This is the first Roy Rhodes I bought. Lost the insert and called him and replaced the insert for free. Way back when. Looks kinda like todays Echos.

Didn’t know if anyone had any info. May try and call him or find him later this week. He was making turkey calls last I heard and lives in Memphis.

Wish I had bought Alvin Taylor’s inventory out back in the day. Roy made a nice call also. Someone had a Herters foam decoy in the rice field and it took me for a trip down memory lane.

I think Roy is the only one that was a world champion duck and turkey caller.
I have about a dozen Herters left out of 6 dozen or so in the garage.

A friend bought out Kenny’s Callers from his wife after he passed. They’re teach Taylor’s prices if they haven’t already

To my knowledge Roy has passed but I don't know this for sure. IT's been a minute since I've heard his name mentioned. Like a long decade or 2 of minutes. I am pretty active on call maker forums.. never hear his name.

He had an acrylic call that was the loudest SOB i've ever blown.... it would break your eardrums.

I have an old poly of his in this model. I think it was called "open water.". I don't have it on my lanyard anymore but killed a bunch blowing that call. Not saying I'm good or that the call made me better than I am, but it always sounded good to me.

Last I’d heard and it’s been a minute was he sold his duck calls business as was strictly turkey. But I don’t know what’s actually true. Kinda curious since I got this caller back and it’s mint condition. I let her ring out a few times this morning.

Thanks for all information, I’d read something in by about the bore on his insert being different than others. I’d read it somewhere and I recall him saying something but that was long ago.

I don't think this one is acrylic, but there's no low end. It's loud.

I thought he went straight poly and quit making wood duck calls. Never knew of any acrylics. I know talked with him several times and he seemed consumed with turkey hunting. I hadn’t really straight chasing those things at that time but did soon after. He likened chasing a gobbler to green timber duck hunting.

Green timber and dry field ducks are where it’s at.
