I was wondering if any of you older guys use AAA. I’m getting older and after 3 shoulder surgeries, I had a really tough time changing a tire the other day. I looked online, and the offerings look like a deal. I plan on traveling more in the next few years and just wondered if any of you guys ever used it while on the road and what was your experience

I have it because my wife works in Montgomery and my son is living in Auburn. Just the peace of mind that they can get there flat changed or car jumped off or keys unlocked is worth it to me.

I’ve had it for about 30 years. More than pays for itself. Have it for my boys too. I get the upgrade so I can get a free tow up to 100 miles. Great for tire changes, battery jumps, gas, tows, ect. Saved me and my kids butts several times.

I have it on all the family. I have a jump box in every vehicle. And I mostly do my own towing. But I figured it's best to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Kid or wife locks the keys in the car or runs out of gas I'll be happy not to drive an hour to fix it. Money well spent....

We have the Platinum(?) (top level) for several years. With 2 driving children (adults) it's paid for itself every year. Our cars were out of warranty and we had at least one towed yearly. If you use it once it pays for itself!

As far as hotels I've not seen much of a savings really. $10 savings is not gonna be a deciding factor on where I stay. Are you seeing more savings or something I'm not doing right?

Thanksgiving night I was driving back to Selma after family doings in TN. Right at the top of the 565 to get on to 65S I had a blowout after I ran over something. I was dead on top of the 565 exit. In about the worst place I could be. With my health issues that was not the place I wanted to be changing a tire so I called the Ford Roadside assistance, which comes with the vehicle. They message me that someone will be on the way from Decatur and will be there in 25 to 55 minutes. A few minutes later they message back that they don't have anyone to come. I called back and let's just say I got very stern with the dispatcher about how bad of a spot I was in. She said she would try to find another contractor. I was listening to the Egg Bowl so I knew rain was coming. I waited and waited, 2 hours total, before they messaged me back that someone would be on the way, ETA 30-60 minutes. In just a few minutes the guy called and got my exact location and was there in 10 minutes. Super nice guy that said Ford called AAA when their contractor didn't want to leave his family on Thanksgiving. He said he was a contractor for AAA and he didn't turn down any job. He had me going again in just a few minutes. All the cash I had was a $20 bill which I gladly gave to him as a tip. AAA will get my business when the Ford Roadside Assistance runs out.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I dont use it as a deciding factor I just ask when checking in if they offer a AAA discount. It is usually a % off. Most times they just take it off and dont even ask to see card

Our insurance covers roadside assistance. AAA was alright before we transitioned to a digital world, but now all the knowledge and discounts can be had from a smartphone.

Will they pull you out of a shallow mud hole, even though you’re just a little stuck? Asking for a friend.

No matter your age, ain’t no shame in having someone with flashers and reflective stuff on to help you on the side of the interstate at night.

no need to hand in your man card. Now a days, vehicles aint designed for the owners to be able to work on them. They hide the batteries, jacks and jack points on vehicles is a damn mystery. Use to, someone would pull up and help, now they're just as likely to rob you or run you over.

I have it for my entire family and am the only one that has never used it. When you have a wife and two daughters that are on the road a lot, it is good for piece of mind if nothing else. Ours has been used to tow cars twice, change three flats, jump off a car and to help get in a car with the keys inside. Worth it.

(Gotta tell this: One of the tows was a son-in-law that decided to start changing his own oil. He got a few miles down the road and alarms and bells started going off. He changed the oil and filter. He never drained the old oil, just pouring the new oil in on top of the old. He's now gone back to paying folks to change it. I laughed at the sight of that Porsche sitting on the rollback.)
