Most county dirt roads do not have the proper maintenance. They get flat bladed with no crown because it’s faster. Ditches aren’t pulled and turnouts maintained. This allows water to stay on the road and in the ditch.

Definitely was Sheeptrail in Crenshaw county after a snowstorm or rainstorm. Stuck on it multiple times. They improved it so not as bad now but it used to be bad.

What’s the worst one that you drive on during hunting season?
There’s one called Brantley road in Monroe County that connects highway 47 in Old Texas to highway 10 in Pineapple. This is a very narrow road with a steep center grade in many places. And if you slide off the road it will make for a long muddy night. Plus where the wood bridge goes over Turkey creek is a low area and you ain’t going far if you ain’t got mud tires. All terrains will get you stuck too. I know these things first hand after taking a deer to the processors in Camden. This road is almost impossible to navigate without 4 wheel drive. Unless you’re a old black man that drives a thirty year old Ford LTD and knows how to drive in the mud. This fella passed by me one evening while we pulled over to piss. Damnest thing I’ve ever seen. Been a long time since I’ve been down that road, used to hunt and fish some of the Brantley stuff,my family is from up there and we are good friends with the Brantley’s.John Shannon road in Beatrice used to be awful,I leased some turkey land on it one spring and slid off in a ditch and like to have never got out,it’s the worst county maintained dirt road I’ve ever been down.

Any paved county road in Jackson county. Even though most CR are paved in Jackson , some are in rough shape . Be better off to plow the bad ones up and start back grading them . The problem started 60 years ago when they black topped all of them . I think we have more miles of paved CR than any other county . Now that they're in bad shape , we don't have the $ to keep them up. The die was cast 50-60 years ago.

My camp is on River Ridge Rd just west of John Shannon rd and Flat Creek. That intersection stays buggered between the loggers and the yocals doing donuts in it when wet. Just beyond there is an S curve on the top of the hill which when wet can be slick as heron crap. I came through there one time when two days of rain were followed by a hard freeze. The soupy clay froze. I went down that hill sideways at three different angles and I don’t know how I didn’t fall into the deep ditches on the sides.

But, some of the roads near Perdue Hill are the best I've ever seen. Dales Ferry Road is wide, crowned and generally pretty smooth or was the last time I was over there.

I’m not far from you,I hunt off of Robinson Creek road,it’s good until it rains a bunch and then the creek gets up and floods the county road, they have to redo it every year

West Butler Rd in Choctaw Co. is literally unpassable in a vehicle. Heck, we nearly turned the Ranger over trying to go down it. There are exposed water AND gas lines dangling along the ditch from where the road has eroded so bad, and a couple hundred yards of it are on top of mats that a logging crew just left behind 4 or 5 years ago. The problem is that on either side of the 1.5mi stretch of goat trail, are dirt roads that head back out to pavement. In the off chance that the county grades the road, they make the outer "loops" and never actually go through it end to end. I'll take some pictures next time I'm up there. It is amazingly bad.
