Wanted to get any insights the board might have on this Rem 700 before I list it on the classifieds. What I think is correct: 1. Barrel codes indicate December 1967 production 2. When purchased I was told the prior owner had it cut down to 20" and recrowned. That measures out. 3. Looking at the caliber stamping on the barrel it looks like it may have been born as a 222 rem and when it was cut down it was also rechambered for 223 rem and the smith stamped the 3 over the 2. New stamping with no bluing caused some surface rust I've never removed. 4. Also looks like the smith likely installed a new floorplate and maybe trigger guard. I'm not really sure on value was thinking $1000.00 but could be off. Thoughts on that? PicturesTIA guys.

It’s a shame they rechambered the triple deuce, would have been worth more all original.
Beautiful old rifle!

Maybe $1K if it was all original. Being rechambered and cut down drastically affects value. I'd say 450-500. Definitely was afraid of that. Appreciate it

Beautiful old rifle! Definitely. Actually didn't know it was a rechamber until i took the pictures this morning. Bought it and in the safe it went.

If the stock is as good as it looks and all original; it's worth probably $250- $300
