That would be a tough one for me. Hopefully the conversation ended with them understanding it’s deer season and an apology.
Here’s the thing, there’s worse trespassers to have and the last thing you want to do is have the Sheriffs department pi$$ed off at you because you trespassed a bunch of their deputies. Not saying it’s right but I’m saying it absolutely could happen They knew it wasn’t their property and should be punished to the full extent of the law. Obey the law and they can’t do anything to you. If they do, go above their heads and to the news. Way too many police officers out there that think they’re above the law.

I'd reckon they were armed and to use a quote I heard one Friday morning after the season has been going a week or so "Yall know these aughtsix bullets don't care what they hit right? This is walker County too I'd not be sneaking around accidents happen." Ugly perhaps but it worked.
