When I was about 9 I was hunting and sitting in the deer stand alone. My mother worried about everything. She asked me one day if I didn't think I should be scared out there. I told her, "mom, I'm in full camp and I have a gun. I'm the thing to br afraid of!" Haha. But the truth is that we are out there with the wild. I have stepped on plenty of venomous snakes. I had a mountain lion come down a tree 30 yards in front of me. I had a 10' alligator pop out of the water 6 feet from me. My scariest moment was being chased by wild hogs at 13 years old.

My father had worse luck. He was attacked by a bobcat while calling for turkeys and had to fight a turkey to death with only his fists one time!

What is the worst you ever had? Sometimes in the woods, you really remember it's wild.

Teenage years, walking back to truck on a road gun already unloaded. Something just off the road down a ravine was growling at me. Not dog like or bobcat like. Deeper growl of a bear or mountain lion. Never again walk without gun at ready.

Most dangerous place I have hunted is anywhere a Red Neck Scumbag thinks it’s ok to go piddling!!!!!!!

My encounter with a white face black cow. As a kid I stayed on stand a little late and had to a thick spot that was very dark. I see something white moving around in front of me no sound and it’s dead still. I gotta get through it so I call out a couple of times,nothing, and start moving slowly forward. Finally get up on it and it was a neighbors cow eating privet. It would have died if my dad did not pound into me don’t shoot unless certain of what u r shooting

Haha. The mountain lion was in Alabama (whether you believe it or not. 11am on a clear day) the others were in the South Carolina lowcountry where I grew up.

When I was hunting chicks in High School, I once bagged and tagged a hottie. Then made the mistake of stepping out. The attacks received from what seemed like all the other hotties I had future plans for, almost broke me.

Worst thing I’ve run into was poachers n’ trespassers in Alabama. Couple bear encounters out west but I think next time they wanna flex at a gorilla they’ll think twice.

When I was a kid and I mean a kid. Me and my olean went hunting he droppede off aty spot and went to where ehe was going. After a few minutes I heard a loud thump toward where he went I decided I'd ease that way and did found him and the base of the tree shock up but unhurt. This was in the days of using pallets and 2x4's for treestands and as he was climbing a board (step)broke.
Again when I was a kid we was ina dog club. And we got all strung out on a drive saw the dee come through it was bucks only back then. And I heard the shot and could almost see the stander next to me. Heard him scream so again I eased up.over there and he had took a pellet of buckshot in the head from the stander on the other side of him. He ended up living but that was a lil unnerving on both accounts

Had to shoot a dog coyote cross or something one time at 10 yards coming at me snarling. Scariest looking damn canine I’ve ever seen.

Only thing I’m really worried about in the woods is stepping on a snake, or running into a group of feral dogs. That and maybe a cald, but so far I don’t believe in them

When i was a teenager - me and a buddy use to wade a swamp on his land to get to a beaver dam and he had dynamite and we would blow up the dam

One time while wading that nasty swamp - he turned and started shooting down toward me knees - we wer about knee to low thigh deep n swamp - snake floated up right at my legs

It was startling - but we just kept on going and shot some more nutra rats and blew up the dam like we always did - prob should hav been more scared - lucky I did not get bit r shot 🤣🤣

Hunting with the dog runners who got in the Dickel for breakfast back in the early 90's. The bullets would be flying everywhere.

I don't know about it being so dangerous as being scared. I would say being lost in the woods coon hunting one night when the light went dead (I was about 12 or 13). Ended up walking about an hour or so downhill to the highway - where eventually my uncle picked me up. I could hear him calling and honking, but he couldn't determine where I was when I was yelling. The crazy thing is - the dogs returned straight to him, if I would/could have kept up with the dogs, I would have walked straight to him. The only reason he went back to the highway was to go and get other family members to come look for me. He was pissed and I wasn't overly happy myself.

I guess the only other times I was very concerned was when what I believed to be a pack of coyotes (although we did have several wild dogs in the area) walked me out of the woods. It's the only time in my life I considered firing a blind shot into the woods at a sound. It was one of those walk out with the light held next to the stock and scan everything moments.

I wouldn't say dangerous or scared, but had a coon grab my shoulder when he was "scooting" down a tree while I was in a ladder stand. I think it shook both of us up pretty good, when I snapped my head around we were looking pretty looking much other eye-to-eye - thankfully, he/she decided to continue scooting down the tree. It took me a few minutes for my heartrate to drop below 200-bpm.

I had three raccoons try to get into a shoot house with me once. They were pretty pissed that I was in “their” home. I had to shoot all three of them to keep them off of me. Another time, when I was a young teen, me and a buddy had a poacher shoot at us with a shotgun, raining pellets down on us. He got arrested over that one.
