This is just my opinion, but honestly I think he has a really tough row to hoe. Why is this Irishguy, you ask...
Well as fun as it is for many folks to cheer "Freedom of Speech! Yaay! Elon, 'Conan the Libertarian' is in charge now!" There is now a challenge for him. And that challenge is to run Twitter as free as possible and yet still make money. After all, when it's all said and done, a business needs to make money or it will die. If that happens even a rich and powerful guy like him will cast it aside, learn his lesson and move on to the next challenge.
Twitter is still going to have to be censored. We can talk about free speech all we want, but it will still have to be censored at some level. There are still batshit crazy people on both sides of the political spectrum, and giving those people a voice is going to be a total shitshow. Advertisers will bail and revenue will drop to nothing. It takes money to run an operation like Twitter and even Elon isn't a bottomless bank.
That leaves the question, who gets censored? Where are the lines going to have to be drawn?
Even with the relative freedom to post goofy stuff on here, Skinny still has to censor this place.
It's kind of like bitching about your property owners association or bitching about the little league coaches. Sure, of course they are doing a bad job, but do you really want that job yourself? Hell no you don't, because it's a thankless job. Owning Twitter is going to be like that... No matter what you do, no matter how you try to herd the cats on there, no one is going to be saying, "Boy Twitter sure is being run well now."
By the way, GM has already pulled advertising. For no other reason than Elon bought it. Big corporations are risk adverse. They can't afford any kind of controversy.

He dont care about making more money, and he does not care about Twitter making money or going in the red for the next 200 years.
Folks have to understand that. He could literally buy half of Texas, but that is not fun.
Sometimes you buy things that you know will never re-coup the money you put into those things. Like a boat or a hooker. You never get the money back but you get the VALUE.
That is what he is doing with Twitter. He is so stupid rich that just the action of him taking it over is worth it.

Censorship was not the problem, censoring only the opposing view and opinions was the problem. You could tweet just about anything along as it followed their narrative. A fairly administered Twitter would be beneficial to freedom and democracy worldwide BINGO

I wouldn’t bet against the dude. Exactly my thoughts. He doesn’t lose, he may be early or a Maverick but given time he’s a proven winner. I really hope him buying Twitter is good for himself, Twitter and society as a whole.

I’ve wondered the same before until I found that a couple companies own most shares in the larger companies round the world so I reckon they’re pulling the strings
