I'm only 35, but I've already learned I can't do things like I used. Main things I've changed:

1. Nutrition. I get most of my nutrition from food, but do supplement. Supplements usually have lower bio-availability than food btw. Moderating wheat in my diet got rid of my knee pain.
2. Sleep
3. Yoga. Sounds gay, but I consider vital for staying active with an aging body. If nothing else, stretch a lot.
4. Done with heavy lifting. I do drop sets and super sets with less weight now. I'm guessing this helped with knee pain too, but wheat was the main cause.

Also a good bit of knowledge an older fellow gave me years ago that seems fitting here:

Took me 10 minutes to get out of bed and walk this morning. I had a really heavy day yesterday and today as well. Should have been born rich instead of good looking šŸ˜‚

The older I get the more this rings true. I have friends older than me that still do crazy things and enjoy life to the fullest. Heck some of my friends still party like we did in the 80s and 90s.

Iā€™m into moderation now. LOL

I'm still pretty good at 55. But I've had to increase my water intake considerably. Dehydration can cause a lot of issues, aches and pains. I try to drink at least 120 ounces a day. Y'all wouldn't believe my workout routine but its pretty intense. But the constant hydration has made a huge difference.

Iā€™ve been trying to do the elliptical 3 days a week before work. I seem to feel better when I do. The problem is I have a lateral meniscus tear and have to go see the doc on Thursday

I've heard sex was the fix, but I cannot confirm as I'm married.

I feel ya.I been bouncing between 1 Mobic and 1600mg on alternating days the past 2 weeks. Had MRI on left knee Thursday and see orthopedic doc Monday am. Knee is better but still canā€™t squat all way down. Going to Bama game today so Iā€™m sure itā€™ll be a little sore tomorrow.

I'm 41 and naturally a slim guy. Sleep is my problem. If I don't sleep enough, I feel hungover the next day

Mobic is a miracle drug. Im 63, arthritis in both hands. My doctor prescribed mobic to reduce inflammation. Still there but its amazing the difference. Mobic is a old drug that reduces inflammation. Any of you old farts that have trouble getting out of bed or stays stiff, try it. You will be amazed.

I've been working out with 30lb kettlebells for about 2 years now. There are tons of workouts on YouTube for them, most are around 20-30 minutes long. That's not heavy weight by any means but it makes a helluva difference.

I don't have anything constructive to add to this thread other than a realization that sugar is the #1 thing that causes me inflammation and joint pain. Ankles, knees, hip, back, shoulder, elbow...hurrt worse. When I am disciplined enough to limit my sugar intake there is a marked decrease in inflammation and joint pain. My discipline is the real trouble.

That is a good point. I know that alcohol is an inflammatory, but damn, I like beer and whiskey.

Iā€™m so broke up itā€™s getting tough just to do what I have to get done anymore. Iā€™ve had surgery on both shoulders and about to do another, 11 knee surgeries between the two knees and about to do the left again, Ruptured discs in my lumbar and arthritis in my hips. Iā€™ve beat the hell outta this poor old body for sure.

I started outgrowing my pants a while back. Got all worried about having to buy new clothes so I had to do something. My dad suggested cutting back on beer because of all the carbs, and I realized my wife cooked pasta 3-4 times a week and cut back on the pasta instead. Lost 10 pounds in a month by doing nothing other than substituting green vegetables like English peas and green beans for pasta.

Wish I could get more than 6 hours a night. Many times itā€™s more like 5 or 5.5 hrs a night Mon- Friday. I sometimes get 7 hours on Saturday or Sunday
