What's he doing or ain't doing

Maybe there is nothing to put together...? Anything in particular?

He is wanting to track any deer now not the one that’s shot. He gets so wired up before we get there then it’s oh one went this way one went that way. He isn’t focused is what I feel. You can tell when he’s on the right track normally. But several lately he’s been just going everywhere. I can restart and he does it again. Last night there were 4 or 5 big areas of blood and we would find another from me restarting then he’d go another way. The guys back looking for blood would find specs going on and he wouldn’t even have been close to the track then he’d get on it and take off again a different track and nothing. I’m having to track on lead due to my garmin crapping out so I let him go each way for a hundred yds and when I don’t see any blood I restart. He’s been on more tracks this year then any other and he seems to be getting worse not better. 🤷‍♂️

How old is he..
They gone scent check where other deer go but shouldn't take and go far.
Maybe need to just put in some time and do a good bit of work in the off season.
Don't take this wrong but you may need to learn to help him to keep him locked on.
He also maybe telling you what your tracking ain't dead and he's trying to find something else to go find to please you

He’s 4 but you are correct I need to spend time in the off season working with him. Problem is having kids who play ball from February through September every freaking weekend. It’s hard to find time to do anything.

May need to send him off to school I know a guy

Got about 20 from the processor this weekend. Deer was tracked by Ashley minor today and was determined it was a leg hit. Riggs was on the track but I pulled him off. So it may have been my fault

Again don't take this wrong but you gotta learn to trust him and read what he's telling you. That maybe why he didn't stay locked on they wasn't nothing to find

Yeah he told me with his speed he was on the deer but I wasn’t seeing blood so I didn’t trust him. But that’s where the garmin comes in. It’s a lot easier to look when you aren’t getting drug by a dog as fast as he can drag you.

The only reason I look for blood on most tracks is just for the purpose of satisfying the hunter......I watch the dog and read what he's telling me. There's so many times that we go hundreds of yards without seeing blood that you just cant go by that to tell you if you're on the right track.....It does help verify it for you but dont think you're on the wrong trail just because you're not seeing it

Went and tried to recover a leg shot today with no luck.......Otis and Ruby got him to bay up at one time but he broke long before we could get to him and never slowed down again.......He ended up crossing the county road on us where we called it off. That may be the last one for the year.

Yep I reckon we done I'm go through all my stuff and gather up some stats for the year. May do that tommorrow at work

Woohoo!.......One more to go look for..........Hunter said the deer jumped up and mule kicked and he thought he saw blood coming out of it but they cant find any on the ground......Maybe we'll end the year on a positive note with a recovery.

Muzz and me just ran one a few miles. Bayed a couple times and finally ran behind some houses. Called it off after that

Dang coyotes spoiled what would have probably been a sure find......The deer was likely gut shot or something of that nature because Otis tracked it like the deer was dragging a T-bone steak behind him.......He was running a direct line that he barely even checked up on.......The deer hit the creek though and then bee lined straight up the creek for close to a mile before we ran out of property to track on and we had to call it off. That's exactly what they typically do when we get them up with the dogs......

Picked up 2 more tracks. Waiting to meet the folks at the first one
