Used to freelance it, been going with guide the last few years.
You can still be successful going independent. Plan to go after crops are out and when weather is starting to push them. You'll put a thousand miles on your truck just scouting them in a few days.
Permission was getting harder to get last time we went independent. That landscape is definitely changing and in part, was why we decided to go with a guide. OnX is more essential than anything else.
